However, if an abnormality occurs in the operation of the fan and the airflow ceases, the heater is no longer turned on, resulting in a high temperature. Therefore, by detecting the temperature of this heater portion with a temperature sensor, the operating state of the fan can be detected.

Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new airflow detector that eliminates the above-mentioned drawbacks. The purpose of this invention is to provide an airflow detector that detects airflow generated by a fan, etc., and which uses a heater for temperature detection. This can be achieved by integrating directly or via an insulating film with the magnetic material that is the temperature sensitive part of a thermal reed switch or thermal marquee switch.

1 is a reed switch 1 (including a Mercury switch, etc.), which opens and closes the switch using a magnetic field. 2 is a spin rearrangement type temperature-sensitive magnetic material, and the axis of easy magnetization changes in the directions of arrows A and B depending on the temperature. The principle of this temperature sensitive part is that, for example, below a certain temperature, the axis of easy magnetization of the spin-realigned temperature-sensitive magnetic material 2 is in the direction of arrow B, and above a certain temperature, the axis of easy magnetization is in the direction of arrow A. When the axis of easy magnetization is in the direction of B, the magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnet 3 passes through the yokes 4 and 4' to form a closed magnetic circuit with two spin-rearranged temperature-sensitive magnetic materials.
Although magnetic flux does not leak to the outside world, when the axis of easy magnetization is in the direction of arrow A, the closed magnetic circuit is not constituted by the magnetic material 2, so magnetic flux leaks to the outside. Therefore, if the reed switch 1 is placed near this temperature sensitive part as shown in FIG. 1, the switch can be opened and closed in accordance with the temperature.

That is, as shown in FIG. 1, 5 μm of SiO 2 as an insulating material is vapor-deposited (or sputtered) on the spin-rearranged temperature-sensitive magnetic material 2, and 500 Å of nichrome, which is a heating element, is vapor-deposited (or sputtered) thereon. A heater 5 with an Au electrode and a resistance value of about 200Ω is provided in each case.

As described above, the present invention has the advantage that since the heater is integrated into the magnetic material that is the temperature sensing part of the switch, there is no variation in detection characteristics and the response is quick.
