As an example of a method for connecting plastic tubular bodies such as plastic pipes or plastic sheathed cables, the method shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is conventionally known. In this method, spacers 3A and 3B are attached to the ends of each plastic sheathed cable by sandwiching the connecting portion 2 of a pair of plastic tubular bodies to be connected, for example, plastic sheathed cables 1A and 1B, and furthermore, spacers 3A and 3B are attached to the outer sides of these spacers. A hollow cylindrical heat-shrinkable sleeve 4 made of heat-shrinkable rubber, heat-shrinkable plastic, or the like is fitted over the entire length.

Next, both ends 4A, 4 of this heat-shrinkable sleeve
When B is heated with a heating means such as a torch lamp, each of them is configured to undergo thermal contraction in the radial direction as shown in FIG. 2, and to be in close contact with the cable sheath. However, the conventional method described above has the following drawbacks.

(1) If there are variations in the external dimensions of the plastic tubular body, the thickness of the connecting portion 2, the internal diameter of the sleeve 4, etc., a spacer that matches these dimensions must be used each time. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare spacers of various sizes.

Figures 3 and 4 show an example of the present invention, in which a pair of plastic tubular bodies, for example, plastic sheathed cables 1A and 1B, are connected to form a connection part 2, and then this connection part is sandwiched. An elastic tape 5 is wound and laminated at the end of each plastic sheathed cable to form a spacer. This elastic tape 5 has a thickness t of about 5 mm as shown in FIG.
It is made of a material that shrinks not only in the longitudinal direction but also in the thickness direction, such as a porous material such as foamed plastic material or synthetic rubber sponge.

Next, a hollow cylindrical heat-shrinkable sleeve, such as a stretch-crosslinked polyethylene sleeve 4, which has been inserted into one of the cables in advance, is fitted onto the outside of the wound and laminated elastic tape.
Then, use a torch lamp on both ends of this sleeve.
When heated by a heating means such as an infrared heater, this heated portion mainly contracts in the radial direction and comes into close contact with the cable sheath. At this time, the contraction force of the sleeve and the elastic force of the elastic tape interact with each other, and these forces are finally balanced, and as a result, the sleeve contracts and deforms in a curved shape.

According to this invention, since a spacer made by winding and laminating elastic tape is used when heating a heat-shrinkable sleeve, (1) the external dimensions of the plastic tubular body, the thickness of the connecting part, and the internal diameter of the sleeve are Even if there is a fluctuation in the winding and laminating height, this can be dealt with by appropriately adjusting the height of the winding and stacking. (2) In addition, the heat shrinkage force of the sleeve and the elastic force of the elastic tape interact with each other and maintain a good balance between the two, making it possible to heat and shrink the ends of the sleeve into a neat streamlined shape. There is.
