難であった。そこで、この方法では加工困難な肉厚のロ
ールは、第6図に示す如く、厚肉で外径の大きい本体部
分2と、その両端に接続される薄肉で小径の軸部3とを
別々に作って一体に接着することによって製作していた
が、この方法で作られたロールは、接着部が弱くて軸部
3が本体部分2から取れ易く、又、加工に手間が掛る欠

応する肉厚及び外径を有するパイプ材の両端部の外径を
機械切削加工により小径となし、次いで薄肉となった部
分を加圧、又は加熱及び加圧により所要の内外径にする
