The present invention relates to a sexual attractant for fall armyworm. It is well known that in recent years, the spraying of insecticides to control pests has brought about various problems that are undesirable from a health and hygiene standpoint. There is a desire to develop new pest control techniques that can replace insecticide spraying, or new techniques that can reduce the amount of insecticides used. In general, the mating behavior of insects is controlled by extremely small amounts of odorants secreted by the insects themselves. In other words, female adult insects release volatile substances into the air, and adult male insects that sense this volatile odorant begin to fly from a distance towards the female adult, which is the source of the odorant. , discovers this female adult, becomes sexually excited, and mates with it. This odorant secreted by adult females is generally known as a sex pheromone or sex attractant.
It is an extremely important substance that controls the mating behavior of insects. Therefore, it becomes possible to control pests by using this substance to attract male adults to a certain location and kill them, or by artificially concealing the normal mating behavior of male adults. In addition, by catching and killing pests using this odorant and investigating the occurrence of the pests, it is possible to reduce the use of pesticides because it is possible to judge whether or not spraying pesticides is appropriate and which agents are appropriate. . The present inventors conducted research on the sex attractant of fall armyworm (Leucania Separata Walker), which is a pest of legume crops. Virgin female fall armyworms attract large numbers of male adults in the field. It has been discovered that the substance involved in attracting male adults is a chemical substance secreted from the secretory gland located at the end of the abdomen of a virgin female, that is, a sex attractant (also called a sex pheromone). Therefore, when the abdominal ends of approximately 50,000 unmated female fall armyworms are excised and extracted with methylene chloride, an oil containing pheromone is obtained. The oil was adsorbed onto silica gel and diluted with hexane, 1% ether/hexane, 5% ether/hexane, 10% ether/
When sequentially eluted with hexane and ether, 5%
Component A is obtained from the ether/hexane eluate, and component B is obtained from the ether eluate. Hydrogenation of component A yields hexadecanyl acetate, hydrolysis of component A yields component B, and acetylation of component B yields component A. When component A is ozonolyzed, 6-acetoxyhexylaldehyde is obtained. From this reaction, it can be seen that component A is 11-hexadecenyl acetate and component B is 11-hexadecenol. Further, the double bond was found to be cis (Z) based on the behavior of the compound on thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography. This is the first time that the above two types of compounds have been isolated from fall armyworm, and furthermore, they have never been reported as sex attractants for fall armyworm. Of the two compounds, cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate causes sexual arousal in adult males at high concentrations, but cis-11-hexadecenol does not show any active effect, but increases the concentration of B component from 1 to 60 It has been found that component A containing 1 to 30% in particular exhibits significantly higher sexual arousal and attraction effects than a compound containing component A alone, and based on this finding, the present invention was completed.
That is, the present invention relates to a sex attractant for fall armyworm whose active ingredient is cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate containing 1 to 30% of cis-11-hexadecenol. The sex attractant of the present invention has as an active ingredient cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate containing 1 to 30%, preferably 5 to 20%, of cis-11-hexadecenol. These two active compounds can be encapsulated in plastic capsules as such or dissolved in an organic solvent, e.g. hexane, or in the form of powders or granules, e.g. rubber, synthetic resin, sand, diatomaceous earth, silica gel, etc. It can be used as a sex attractant by mixing it with a carrier such as, and adsorbing the active ingredient onto the carrier. As mentioned above, this sex attractant can reduce the population of pests by attracting male adults to a certain place and killing them, or it can volatilize a high concentration of sex attractant into the air so that male adults can find females. It can be used to suppress the reproduction of pests by artificially preventing mating between adult insects. Furthermore, it is also possible to prepare and use an attractive insecticide by appropriately mixing an insecticide such as a pyrethrin agent, a DEP agent, a DDVP agent, etc. with these active ingredients. It is efficient to use the sex attractant of the present invention at the same time as the onset of adult fall armyworms, and it is usually used from spring to autumn.
A method generally used for sex attractants may be followed, and for example, it can be placed in a trap at a height of 1 m above the ground in a rice field or corn field. Usually 0.5 to 5 mg of active ingredient in a trap, preferably 1
It is sufficient to install one piece of the attractant of the present invention containing mg of the present invention, but the content and number can be increased or decreased as appropriate depending on the occurrence status of armyworm adults. Furthermore, the effectiveness can be increased by adjusting the number and height of traps installed on the ground. Attracting males can be captured by inserting into the trap a material coated with or coated with an appropriate sticky substance (for example, polybdenum), and the trapping effect can be enhanced by including an insecticide in the sticky substance. In addition to the purpose of controlling pests, this attractant can also be used to investigate the occurrence of pests, that is, the timing and amount of pests. Conventionally, moth-attracting lights (blue fluorescent lights or black lights) have been used to investigate the occurrence of pests, and the number of pests that have flown to them has been counted to estimate the extent and timing of pest outbreaks. However, in the case of fall armyworms, they rarely fly to moth attracting lamps, making surveys of their occurrence extremely inaccurate. However, the use of the sex attractant of the present invention has an outstanding effect on attracting adult male moths. This can be a new method for investigating the occurrence of moths, replacing the traditional moth-attracting lights. As described above, by using the sex attractant of the present invention, rice, a plant family crop, due to fall armyworm,
It is possible to sufficiently prevent damage to corn. Next, a method for synthesizing cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate and cis-11-hexadecenol according to the present invention will be described. A solution of 1-hexyne in tetrahydrofuran is reacted with butyllithium in nitrogen gas under ice cooling,
Let it be lithium acetylide of hexyne. When 10-bromodecanol is condensed with this acetylide, 11
- Obtain hexadecynyl alcohol. Hydrogenation of 11-hexadecinyl alcohol in the presence of Lindlar catalyst provides cis-11-hexadecenol (B). Acetylation of B yields cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate (A). Next, the effects of the sex attractant according to the present invention will be explained using the following examples. Example 1 Cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate and cis-

The mixture of compounds and air was sprayed onto male fall armyworms in a wire mesh, and the rate of sexual arousal was determined using the protrusion of the grasper at the end of the male's abdomen as a ring. The results are shown in Table 1.

[Table] As is clear from Table 1, the sexually active compounds of the present invention exhibit significantly higher sexual arousal effects than each active compound alone. Example 2 10:0, 9:1 of cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate and cis-11-hexadecenol

An attraction effect test was conducted using an attraction source in which 1 mg of a mixed compound of 7, 2:8, 1:9, and 0:10 was adsorbed per rubber cap. The adhesive plate type trap used in the attraction test was made by bonding a plastic bottom plate (25 cm x 30 cm) and a trapezoidal (height 8 cm) roof board with chemical adhesive. A small screened room (diameter 3 cm, depth 1 cm) was fixed in the chamber, and an opaque plastic plate was attached above it to block sunlight. A piece of cardboard coated with a sticky substance (20 g of polybdenum/paper) was inserted onto the bottom plate of the trap to capture the attracting males. A trap containing one rubber cap as an attraction source was placed outdoors (in a corn field) at a height of 1 m above the ground, and the attracted male adults were captured. The effect of the sex attractant was shown by the number of captured animals. The results are shown in Table 2.
