Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a Pt alloy for an ornament consisting of prescribed weight percentages of Pt, Ni and Cu and having superior mechanical strength and castability as well as superior workability. CONSTITUTION:This Pt alloy for an ornament consists of 84-96wt% Pt, 1-10wt% Ni and 1-15wt% Cu. In the Pt alloy, Ni is added because it does not react with a casting mold during casting, can control the concn. of oxygen during casting and improves the mechanical strength and castability, and Cu is added because it forms an inter-metallic compound with Pt and further improves the mechanical strength by hardening. Since the Pt alloy has the above-mentioned superior characteristics, it is regarded as an epoch-making alloy substitutable for a conventional Pt alloy for an ornament.

(Prior Art and its Problems) Conventionally, platinum-palladium (5 to 15% by weight) alloy has been widely used as a decorative material as described above. However, although platinum-palladium alloy has excellent workability, its mechanical strength and especially its hardness are low, so it is easily scratched and stamped during polishing, and it is difficult to produce gloss, and when used as a finished product. They are also easily scratched, and especially in the case of rings with jewels, the part that holds the jewels in place loosens and the jewels fall off.

The latter platinum-palladium-copper alloy has excellent workability and mechanical properties as well as the platinum-palladium alloy, but because it reacts with the mold during casting, fine patterns do not appear. The problem was that it became unclear and that cavities were formed during casting.

(Object of the Invention) The present invention was made in order to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a platinum alloy for decoration that is excellent in not only workability but also mechanical strength and castability. .

The reason for adding nickel to the decorative platinum alloy according to the present invention is to satisfy the conditions of not reacting with the mold during casting, suppressing oxygen concentration during casting, and improving mechanical strength and castability. and the amount added is 1 to 1
The reason why it is set at 0% by weight is because if it is less than 1% by weight, the improvement in mechanical strength and castability will be low, and if it exceeds 10% by weight, the workability will be significantly reduced.

In addition, copper forms an intermetallic compound with platinum and hardens to further improve mechanical strength. If the amount added is less than 1% by weight, there is almost no improvement in mechanical strength, and 15% by weight This is because if it exceeds this, workability will deteriorate.
