The present invention includes rings, necklaces, brooches, tie pins, cufflinks, watch frames, watch bands,
This invention relates to the improvement of platinum alloys used as materials for lighters, writing utensils, eyeglass frames, earrings, etc. Conventionally, platinum has been used as a material for decorative items such as those mentioned above.
Palladium (5 to 15 w/o) alloy is often used, and platinum-palladium-copper alloy is also used. However, the former platinum-palladium (5~
15w/o) alloy has excellent workability and castability, but because of its low mechanical strength and particularly low hardness, it is easily scratched and stamped during polishing, and it is difficult to produce gloss, and it cannot be used as a finished product. Rings with jewels also had the disadvantage that the part that held the jewels in place loosened and the jewels fell off. The latter platinum-palladium-copper alloy has excellent workability and mechanical strength like the platinum-palladium alloy, but because it reacts with the mold during casting, fine patterns do not appear. The problem was that it became unclear and that cavities were formed because the oxygen concentration could not be suppressed. The present invention has been made in order to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and aims to provide a platinum alloy for ornaments that is excellent in not only workability but also mechanical strength and castability. The platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention is platinum 84~
96w/o, palladium 1~8w/o, cobalt 1
~5w/o and zirconium 1.5~6w/o or titanium 1.5~6w/o. The reason why cobalt is added to the platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention is to satisfy the following conditions: it does not impair workability as a material for ornaments, it does not react with the mold during casting, and it suppresses oxygen concentration during casting. This is to improve the mechanical strength and castability, and the addition amount is 1 to 5 w/o.
This is because if it is less than 1 w/o, improvement in mechanical strength and castability will be low, and if it exceeds 5 w/o, workability will be significantly reduced. Zirconium was added because zirconium forms an intermetallic compound with platinum and hardens, further improving mechanical strength.
This is because if it is less than 1.5 w/o, there is almost no improvement in mechanical strength, and if it exceeds 6 w/o, workability deteriorates. Note that the same effect can be obtained by adding titanium instead of zirconium. Furthermore, zirconium was added because zirconium forms an intermetallic compound with cobalt and hardens to further improve mechanical strength.
Note that the same effect can be obtained by adding titanium instead of zirconium. In addition, if the palladium content in the platinum alloy for ornaments of the present invention is less than 1 w/o, the mechanical strength and castability will deteriorate, and if it exceeds 8 w/o, the oxygen concentration will increase and pinholes will occur. If the amount is too large, the corrosion resistance deteriorates, so the amount is set at 1 to 8 w/o. Examples and conventional examples will be described below in order to clarify the effects of the platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention. Examples No. 1 to No. 6 of the component composition shown in the left column of the table below
The hardness of the platinum alloy for ornaments and the platinum alloy for ornaments of conventional examples No. 7 and No. 8, the reproducibility of the fine pattern of the mold,
The degree of occurrence of cavities was measured after each annealing, and the results shown in the right column of the table below were obtained.

[Table] As is clear from the above table, the platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention has superior hardness after annealing compared to conventional platinum alloys for ornaments, and reproduces the fine patterns of the mold when cast. It can be seen that the quality is also extremely good. As detailed above, the platinum alloy for ornaments of the present invention has extremely excellent workability, mechanical strength, and castability, so it is an epoch-making product that can replace conventional platinum alloys for ornaments. I can say that.
