Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明のリベットは1984年10月23日付与され本
願被譲渡人に譲渡された「合成リベット」なる標題の米
国特許第4,478.544号に記載の合成リベットの
改良に係る。
口、  の  とその問題点 カーボン繊維補強材は現在航空機産業において機体構造
部分に広く使用されている。然しながら、カーボン繊維
を利用した合成材の特徴の一つにはカーボン繊維が変形
困難な点があげられる。従って、カーボン繊維補強樹脂
をリベツ1〜に使用するのはリベットヘッドの効果的形
成の困難性により従来制限を受けている。
ハ、jii7)’1 上述の問題は、半径方向最外部のカーボン繊維及びその
内部に包まれる熱硬化性樹脂母体を加工物に対し張力の
かけられた一体成形のマンドレルから剪断することによ
りリベットヘッドを形成できる点によりこれを解決する
。適宜工具による繊維及び樹脂母体の剪断と圧縮とは、
熱を加えることにより柔くなる熱可塑性又はrBJ段階
熱硬化性樹脂母体の使用により実施可能である。リベッ
トの剪断部分と一体成形の放射状に延びるリベットヘッ
ドが形成され、このリベットヘッドは完全に重合される
と比較的高い剪断及び張力強度を発揮するリベット接続
が形成される。
二、:uu!! 次に、添付図面にもとづき本発明の好適実施例につき説
明する。
第1図にもつとも明かに示されるように、本発明の実施
例によるリベット10は前以て成形されたヘッド部分1
2を有するrBJ段階の熱硬化性樹脂の予備成形体11
と剪断部分14とヘッド形成部分16とを包含する。予
備成形体11は平行状のカーボン繊維17により更に樹
脂母体に包まれた巻き又は織ったケブラー(にevla
r)繊維の外部おお′い18により補強されている。
一体成形マンドレル19が予備成形体11のヘッド成形
部分16の上端中心におかれリベット10の張力がけを
容易にする。リベット10の剪断部分14は1対の加工
物24.26のそれぞれの補完的開口20.22を交通
して延びる。
第1図を第2図に比べて見て判るように、リベット10
のマンドレル19は普通の設計に係る工具(図示せず)
により予備成形体11の加熱後に上方、に引き上げられ
同時に工具30をリベット10のヘッド形成部分16上
の肩32に対し押しつけ、それにより材料をマンドレル
から剪断しリベット10のヘッド形成部分16を第2図
に示ずような平坦なヘッド形状に変形せしめる。
本発明の特徴の一つによればリベット10のヘッド形成
部分16は、カーボン繊[18が互いに平行に並んでお
り例えば熱気通風や工具30の予備加熱、予備成形体1
1全体の予備加熱もしくは全組立体そのままでの加熱な
どにより加熱して柔かくなるrBJ段階の樹脂母体によ
り互いに離されるのでリベット10のマンドレル部分1
9から簡単に引き剥がされ離される。
比較的円滑な外面が成形されたヘッド形成部分16上に
形成され、この外面も又リベット10のヘッド12と関
連して加工物24.26上のりベット10の締めつけ力
を維持する。
第3図にもつとも明かに示されるように、本発明の第3
実施例によるリベット30は予備成形ヘッド部分32と
剪断部分34とヘッド形成部分36を有するrBJ段階
の熱硬化性樹脂の予備成形体31を包含する。予備成形
体31は平行状のカーボン繊維37により補強される。
一体成形マンドレル38がヘッド形成部分36の外端で
予備成形体31の中心におかれリベット30の張力付与
を容易ならしめる。リベット30の剪断部分34は一対
の加工物44.46のそれぞれの該当孔40.42を閏
通して延びる。
第3図と第4図の比較により判るように、リベット30
のマンドレル38が普通設計に係る工具(図示省略)に
より予備成形体31の加熱後上方に引き上げられ一方工
具50はリベット3oのヘッド形成部分36上の環状肩
部52に圧接せしめられ、リベット30のヘッド形成部
分36を第4図に示すような凸面状のヘッド形状に変形
させる。
本発明によれば、リベット30のヘッド形成部分36は
、カーボン繊N37が互いに平行に向いており加熱によ
り柔かくなるrBJ段階の樹脂母材により互いに分離さ
れるのでマンドレル部分38から簡単に剪断又は引き離
される。
変形されたリベットヘッド54上に比較的滑かな外面が
形成されこれによっても加工物44,46に働く締めつ
け力が維持される。
以上本発明の好適実施例について説明したが、本発明は
その特許請求の範囲を離脱せずに変更を行うことができ
る点理解されねばならぬ。

Claims (3)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)予備形成されたヘッド部分と、 剪断部分と、 ヘッド形成部分と、 該ヘッド形成部分から延びる一体成形のマンドレルと、 前記ヘッド形成部分上の一体成形されたヘッドとを有し
    、該一体形成のヘッドは前記マンドレルから剪断された
    材料を包含する、合成リベット。
  2. (2)予備形成されたヘッド部分と、剪断部分と、ヘッ
    ド形成部分と該ヘッド形成部分から延びるマンドレルと
    を有する合成リベットを形成する方法において、 前記リベットを加工物の対応する開口内に組付け、 前記ヘッド形成部分を加熱し、 前記マンドレルを予備形成されたヘッドから遠ざかる方
    向に張力をかけ、 前記ヘッド形成部分の一部分を前記マンドレルから剪断
    し前記加工物に圧接する一体成形のヘッドを形成する諸
    段階を包含する、 合成リベットの形成方法。
  3. (3)前記ヘッド形成部分は第1の直径を有し、前記マ
    ンドレルは前記第1直径より小さい第2の直径を有し、 該第2直径に対応する開口を有する工具を前記マンドレ
    ル上に嵌合摺動せしめ、 該マンドレルを前記加工物より離れるように張力をかけ
    、 前記工具を前記加工物の方に押しつけ 前記ヘッド形成部分の材料を前記マンドレルから剪断す
    る諸段階を包含する、特許請求の範囲第2項による 合成リベットの形成方法。
