Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a printer capable of high quality printing without clogging by providing ink tanks next to a heat sensitive head to which a thin film plate with tiny holes is closely attached. CONSTITUTION:The serial printer is provided with a thin film plate 1 with many tiny holes 1a which is closely attached to a heat sensitive head 2. The thin film plate 1 is provided with spacers 3 and tank protection plates 4, and the space between the plate 1 and the heat sensitive head is sealed with seals 5, constituting ink tanks 6. The spacers 3 are thin, and the plate 1 is filled with ink by surface tension of ink. If the heat sensitive head is applied with electricity, bubbles are created at the interface between the heat generating body and the ink, and the ink in the holes 1a flies out and recording is being carried out on a recording medium 8. Many holes 1a are facing a single heat generating body to generate misty ink droplets; and a high quality printing becomes feasible. Many nozzles are provided therewith, in addition, and a possible clogging is suppressed, resulting in a high dependability of the device.

[One Problem to be Solved by the Invention] The conventional inkjet printer described above is prone to clogging and has poor reliability. Additionally, because the ink droplets are large, the recording medium had to be specially processed to improve print quality. In order to prevent the ink from drying out, the nozzle also required special mechanisms such as a cap and a cleaner. In addition, in mist printers, the surrounding area is wetted by mist, which upsets the balance of the electrostatic field, often resulting in unclear prints, which also poses a problem in reliability.

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the principle of a print head used in a serial printer according to an embodiment of the present invention. A thin film plate 1 having a large number of fine holes 1α is in close contact with a thermal head 2. Thin film plate 1 is placed between the thermal head 2 and the thermal head 2.
There are a spacer 3 and a tank protection plate 4, which are sealed with a seal 5 and form an ink tank 6. The spacer 3 is thin, and the plate 1 is filled with ink due to the surface tension of the ink.

The principle of bubble generation between the heating element and the ink interface is a fact known as bubble jet. Since a large number of holes lα in the plate l correspond to one heating element, there is no mist-like ink droplets, and printing can be performed on plain paper without an excessive amount of ink.
High print quality can be obtained. In addition, since many nozzles are shared, high reliability can be achieved with a probability of 1 and 9 for blockage.

The ink tank 6 may be installed in only one direction, and by making the seal 5 from a soft material and moving the thin film plate 1, ink filling is performed efficiently and the probability of clogging is further reduced.

By using these methods, the protection plate 4 can be made at the same time, and the protection plate 4 and the seal 5 can also be made integrally.6 By using the principle of the present invention, it can be easily applied to multi-heads. It is obvious that by using a thermal head with multiple heating elements and increasing the number of fine holes, only one ink tank is required, and color printing is also easy.
