Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a mist printer which enables to regulate ink droplet diameter and brings about a high quality printing by laminating a film with tiny holes and another film with smaller holes to form an ink film. CONSTITUTION:A serial printer is provided with an ink film 7 which is formed by lamination of a primary film 1 with many tiny holes 1a and a secondary film 2 with smaller holes, and the ink film is wound closely to a heat sensitive head 4. If the heat sensitive head 4 is applied with electricity, the ink in the holes 1 and 2 is suddenly heated to generate bubbles, and the ink flies to adhere to a recording medium 6, resulting in printing. Inasmuch as the ink film 7 moves relatively to the heat sensitive head 4, and moves through an ink supply dives 3, the ink is constantly supplied. As states above, many holes of the film are exposed to a single heat generating body, resulting in a change of ink droplets to become misty, the volume of the ink is controlled to enable a high quality printing.

In addition, there are printers that constantly generate mist and form prints by balancing the electrostatic field. [Problems and points that the invention aims to solve] The conventional impact jet printers mentioned above tend to clog easily and have poor reliability. It's dim. Additionally, because the ink droplets are large, the recording medium must be specially processed to improve print quality. To prevent ink from drying out, unique mechanisms such as caps and cleaners were required on the nozzles. In addition, in mist printers, the surrounding area is wetted by mist, which upsets the balance of the electrostatic field, often resulting in unclear prints, which also poses a problem in reliability.

An ink film 7 is formed by overlapping a main film 1α having many fine holes 1a and a film 2 having even finer holes, and this ink film 7 is brought into close contact with the thermal head 4 via an ink supply device 3. It is wrapped. Similar to conventional printers, a recording medium 6 is wound around the platen 5.

In the embodiment, when the thermal head 4 is energized, the heating element is heated and the numerous holes 1α, 2a of the ink film 7 are heated.
When the ink is rapidly heated at the interface of the heating element, bubbles are generated and the ink is ejected.

The ejected ink adheres to the recording medium 6 and a print is formed. Since the ink film 7 moves relative to the thermal head 4 and passes through the ink supply device 3, it is constantly replenished with ink. Furthermore, by moving each of the films 1 and 2 independently, ink can be supplied more efficiently.

As explained above, according to the present invention, there is no need to worry about clogging due to the constant appearance of new film and the replenishment of ink. By doing so, the ink droplets become mist-like, the amount of ink is controlled, and high-quality printing can be performed regardless of the medium.
