The present invention relates to a board made of thermoplastic resin foam, and is intended to provide a board with particularly high compressive strength. A plate-shaped body made by adding a foaming agent to heated and melted thermoplastic resin and bonding together foamed resin strips extruded from a nozzle with many pores provided at the tip of an extruder can be used as, for example, synthetic wood. Already known. Conventional synthetic wood is made of extruded strips that are fused together and has a square cross section or a flat surface with the width longer than the length. This is because after extrusion, the strips are shaped into horizontally elongated flat bodies because they are pressed from above and below. Plate-shaped materials are required to have good strength, especially compressive strength, but low-density foams reduce strength, while high-density foams make the board heavy and uneconomical. Ta. As a result of various studies, the inventors of the present invention found that a plate-like body made of longitudinally elongated strips that is long in the thickness direction of the plate, compared to a conventional plate-like body made of square or horizontally elongated strips, It was discovered that the compressive strength was extremely strong.
We have come up with this idea. That is, in the present invention, a foaming agent is mixed into a heated and melted thermoplastic resin, and the foamed resin strips are extruded from a die with a large number of pores provided at the tip of an extruder and are fused together in parallel. A plate material made of thermoplastic resin foam, characterized in that each strip is a flat body whose vertical length is 1.4 to 3.0 times the horizontal length in its cross section. The gist of this paper is as follows. The thermoplastic resins used in the plate materials of this invention include polystyrene resins such as styrene, methylstyrene, and halogenated styrene, copolymer resins of styrene and monomers that can be copolymerized with styrene, and polyolefin resins such as polyethylene and polypropylene. These include resins, mixed resins of polyolefin resins and polystyrene resins, mixed resins of polyolefin resins and polyacrylic resins or polymethacrylic resins, and the like. Although these resins have slightly different properties, they can be similarly applied. The thermoplastic resin foam board material of the present invention can be produced by, for example, heating and melting the above resin in an extruder, adding a foaming agent, and then extruding the resin from a die with many pores provided at the tip of the extruder. The strips can be made into a plate by applying stronger pressure from the sides than from the top and fusing each strip, or by using a cap with many pores lined up vertically to form an upright plate. It can be obtained by extrusion molding into a body. To explain with reference to the drawings, a foamed thermoplastic resin board 1 is formed into a plate shape by fusion-bonding a large number of strips 2 to each other, and 3 indicates each strip 2.
This is the fused part. Each strip 2 has a cross section that is long vertically with respect to the plane of the plate, that is, long in the thickness direction of the plate;
It has a short shape laterally, that is, in the width direction of the plate. The vertical length in the cross section of the strip body 2 is 1.2 to 3.0 times the horizontal length. If it is less than 1.2 times, the desired compressive strength cannot be obtained, and if it is more than 3.0 times, the properties of the foam deteriorate and manufacturing becomes difficult, which is not preferable. Comparing the compressive strength of the thermoplastic resin foam plate material 1 of the present invention with plate materials outside the scope of the present invention, for example, a large number of strips made of polystyrene foam 5 times

[Table] As is clear from the above results, it is found that as the vertical length of the strip body 2 becomes longer than the horizontal length, the compressive strength improves. That is, a thermoplastic resin foam having the same expansion ratio has a high compressive strength, and it is extremely economical because less material is required to obtain the same compressive strength. Since the thermoplastic resin foam plate material 1 of the present invention has the above-mentioned properties, it can be used as an underlay material for warehouses, cushioning materials for furniture, sleepers for heavy objects, geta for chairs, underlays for tatami and carpets, and for soundproofing. In addition to being used as a building material for heat insulation, it is also useful as a kamaboko board.
