Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the maintenance work by setting a maintenance mode in an operation mode, and stopping or ending a part or the whole of a task group which is executed by a real time. CONSTITUTION:A maintenance mode is set in an operation mode, and in case of this maintenance mode, only a task of the necessary minimum for an operation of an electronic computer system can be executed. That is to way, when a mode transition program stored in an auxiliary storage device 4 is started in order to shift the operation mode of the electronic computer system to the maintenance mode, the mode transition program stores a data for showing a fact to be the maintenance mode, in a file (mode file) in a main storage device 2 which has stored a state of the operation mode of the present electronic computer system. On the other hand, in each tank operated by a real time, as for the task whose execution is inhibited in case of the maintenance mode, a mode data is fetched from the mode file in the main storage device 2, suitably in the course of the execution, and in case of the maintenance mode, the task is stopped forcibly.

Generally, in a control computer system, a plurality of business tasks are executed in parallel in real time under the control of an operating system. Therefore, when performing maintenance work such as single tasks or database testing and maintenance, execution of other business tasks is often interrupted, resulting in low work efficiency. Conventionally, as a countermeasure, utilities within the operating system were used to stop or terminate individual business tasks one by one, thereby halting execution.

However, there was a large amount of work involved, and there were some tasks that led to system failure, so we needed to be careful.

In a computer system in which a computer system executes a plurality of business tasks in real time under the control of an operating system, one of the operation modes is set to maintenance mode, and one of the tasks to be executed in real time is set. This invention relates to an operating method for a computer system that facilitates maintenance work by stopping or terminating parts or all of them.

First, in order to shift the operation mode of the computer system to maintenance mode, the mode transition program stored in the auxiliary storage device 4 is activated. Then, the mode transition program stores a file (hereinafter referred to as a mode file) in the main storage device 2 that stores the state of the current operation mode of the computer system (=data indicating that it is in maintenance mode).

On the other hand, among the tasks running in real time, for maintenance tasks that are prohibited from execution, mode data is stored from the mode file in the main storage device 2 as appropriate during execution, as shown in Figure 2. Step 1): Check whether the mode is maintenance mode. Step 2): If it is maintenance mode, force (=

In this way, by starting the mode transition program and changing the operation mode of the computer system to maintenance mode, most of the tasks that are currently running in real time will be stopped.
Maintenance work can be done quickly (two times), and work efficiency can be improved.
