Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid competition of recovery processing at missing token on plural nodes by setting individually a timeout value of a transmission right supervisory timer detecting missing token of each node on a network. CONSTITUTION:At node leading, a microprocessor 3 uses an interface circuit 4 to issue a transfer request of timeout value of a transmission right supervisory timer to a host device. The microprocessor 3 sets the timeout value sent from the host device to a register 6 based on the transfer request. A value different depending on each node is given by the host device as the timeout value. A transmission right timeout detection circuit 7 discriminates whether or not a token exists in a data from a receiver 1 and counts up a timer 8 for a prescribed period while no token is detected. At detection of a token, the timer 8 is reset and restarted. When the value of the timer 8 and the content of the register 6 are coincident, a transmission right timeout detection circuit 6 reports the transmission right timeout to the microprocessor 3. Thus, the microprocessor 3 constitutes the token and sends it to a ring network through a transmitter 2.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Field of Application of the Invention] The present invention relates to a ring network transmission right management method % [Background of the Invention] Transmission right management using a token passing method in a peer-to-peer communication type ring network without a master node. When doing so, there was a problem in that multiple nodes competed in the recovery process when a token was lost. Typically, the recovery process involves a valley node creating a token and sending it out onto the ring network. Therefore, if a plurality of nodes simultaneously detect the loss of a token and perform recovery processing, the plurality of tokens will circulate on the ring network, causing a secondary failure.

1 is a ring network receiver, 2 is a transmitter, 3 is a microprocessor that controls the node, 4 is an interface circuit with a host device, and 5 is D indicating a node address.
An IP switch, 6 a register for a timeout value, 7 a transmission right timeout detection circuit, and 8 a timer. When the node is started up, the microprocessor 3 uses the interface circuit 4 to issue a request to the host device to transfer the timeout value of the transmission right monitoring timer. Based on this transfer request, the microprocessor 3 sets in the register 6 the timeout value sent from the host device. The timeout value is given by the host device as a different value depending on the node. The transmission right timeout detection circuit 7 determines whether or not there is a token in the data from the receiver 1, and clocks up the timer 8 at a constant cycle while no token is detected. When a token is detected, the timer 8 is reset and restarted.

FIG. 2 shows a ring network using nodes having the configuration shown in FIG. 10 to 15 indicate valley nodes. On the ring, node 15 sends out a token, and nodes 12 and 1
If the token is lost within 3, the node with the shortest timeout value will detect the transmission right timeout first, construct a token, and send it out onto the ring network. If the difference between the timeout values at the valley nodes is set to be larger than the time required for the transmission right recovery operation of a node, a plurality of nodes will not detect a transmission right timeout.
