Abstract

PURPOSE:To form the end part of a molding into a desired shape without damaging the surface of said end part by pressing said end part of the molding to form a desired shape after cutting the back of the end part, and press bonding a molten plastic to said back. CONSTITUTION:In order to finish the end part 13 of a molding material 11, first, the back 14 of the end part 13 is cut, to be thin-walled. Then, said end part 13 is mounted in divided molds 30 one mold surface 31 of which has a defined form. And, said divided molds 30 are closed, pressing the end part 13 to be formed into a defined shape, i.e., a shape along the mold face 31 of the divided molds 30. And, then, a molten plastic equal to, or having a good compatibility with, the plastic that forms the molding material 11, is pressed into gaps 42, 41 just as carrying out injection molding, from a resin flow-in port 34, to press bond the molten plastic to the cut surface 14 of the material. Thereby, the end part 13 of the molding material 11 can be formed into a desired shape without damaging the surface of the end part 13.

(Prior art) In recent years, various plastic side moldings have been used on the outer side of automobile bodies to protect and decorate the vehicle body.
Among these, plastic extrusion molded products (an example of which is shown in FIG. 10) 10a, which can be used by cutting into arbitrary dimensions with a constant cross section, are often used. As mentioned above, these side moldings are used on the outer surface of the car body, so sharp corners at the cutting end are not desirable, so from a design standpoint, various end shapes with predetermined curved surfaces are used. It is finished. The shape is generally a tapered streamline shape or a streamline shape that becomes thinner toward the tip as shown in Figure 11.The finishing method is also to attach a terminal molded product formed into a predetermined shape to the cut end surface. Arrival or first
As shown in FIG. 2, it is common practice to mold an end molded product by injection molding or the like and at the same time weld it to the end portion of the molding.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) By the way, since the side molding is also used to decorate the side of the vehicle body as described above, a strip or decorative tape 12a of a different color from the molding body is embedded in the visible part surface of the molding body 10a. Or there are many things that are pasted. These unique stripes,
The decorative tape 12a is embedded or attached to the side molding material during extrusion molding, and is continuous in the longitudinal direction of the molding material, and when it is cut to the required length, its ends are attached to the cut end. Most of them have reached this level.

However, as mentioned above, in the method of welding a separate end molded product or a predetermined shape end molded product to the cut end of the molding material at the same time as molding, it is necessary to weld different colored strips as decorations. The end of the molded end terminates at the fixed part of the end molded product, and has the disadvantage that the decoration cannot reach the end of the molding.

First, as shown in FIG. 1, the back surface (dotted chain line) 14.24 of the end portion 13.23 of the molding material cut to a predetermined length is cut to reduce its thickness. Preferably, the cut surface 15.25 and the non-cut portion back surface 16.26 are connected by a continuous curved surface 17.27. In addition, as shown in FIG. 3, it is also a preferable example to provide a dovetail groove 2B when cutting the back surface of the terminal portion 23. Side views of the molding material end portions 13 and 23 after cutting are shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, respectively.

As shown in FIG. 7, the protrusions 33 are provided on an appropriate number of sides at predetermined intervals in the width direction of the molding material 11, so as to communicate between a gap 41 at the lower part of the cut surface of the material and a gap 42 continuing to the molding end 19. It is being done. 34 is a resin inflow hole communicating with the gap 42 mentioned above.

Thereafter, a molten plastic that is the same as or has good compatibility with the plastic constituting the molding material 11 is injection molded into the gap 42.41 through the resin inflow hole 34, and is pressed onto the cut surface 15.25 of the material. Next, the press-fitted plastic is cooled, and the end portion of the material is shaped into a desired shape. Note that a hot melt adhesive or a primer that promotes welding (adhesion) or the like may be applied in advance to the cut surface 15.25 of the material.

(Function) As described above, the present invention provides a molding material 1 made of an extrusion molded product.
After cutting the back surface of the end portion of the material 13.23 and pressing the end portion 13.23 into a desired shape, molten plastic is crimped onto the cut surface (back surface of the molding).
3.23 causes thermal deformation due to the heat retained in the molten plastic, and mechanical deformation caused by pressing is internally heat-set. At the same time, the molten plastic is welded or adhered to the back surface of the material end portion 13.23, that is, the cut surface 15.25, and is shaped into the same shape as a predetermined back surface, for example, the back surface of the molding material. dovetail 2
8, the molten plastic flows into the dovetail groove 28.
This physically forms an engagement structure to more firmly connect the material and hold the end portion of the material in a predetermined shape. It is preferable to heat the end portion of the material in advance in the split mold device to facilitate press working and crimping of the molten plastic.

(Effects) As described above, the present invention allows the terminal portion of the molding material to be shaped into a desired shape without damaging the surface of the terminal portion. Therefore, decorations such as decorative films are attached to the surface of the molding material.
Even if it is buried, and even if it reaches the end of the material, it can be finished into a predetermined end shape including it. Therefore, it is possible to provide a side molding that is extremely beautiful compared to conventional products that do not have decorative bodies at the end portions, and also has a sense of unity up to the end portions.

Furthermore, since the molding end portion is heat-set, its shape retention is also excellent.
