Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the inside of the closed casing highly clean at all time by providing a circular filter and plural guide plates that guides the air flow generated by the magnetic disc in rotation to the circular filter. CONSTITUTION:The guide plates 4 are disposed and fixed on the circular filter 3 in a manner that a magnetic disc 2 is located in between them and that the air flow (a) generated by the rotation of the magnetic disc 2 is guided to the filter 3. The air flow (a) hits against a side plane 4' of the guide plates 4 to become an air flow (b), and flows into the circular filter 3. Therefore, most part of the flow (a) generated by the rotating magnetic disc 2 passes through the filter 3, hence the dust-removal can be attained efficiently. The guide plates are so fixed on the circular filter 3 as located above and below the plural magnetic discs 2 being parallel to them. The removing effect is the better the closer the distance between the disc 2 and the guide plate 4 is made. Accordingly, the dust-removing capability of the circular filter can be sufficiently made use of, so that the inside of the casing is at all time maintained highly clean.

One or more magnetic disks 2 are attached to a hub (not shown) and rotate at a predetermined number of revolutions, usually 2400 to 3600 revolutions per 7 minutes. The magnetic head 5 is attached to a carriage 6 and can be moved to any position on the magnetic disk 2 by a carriage actuator 7. The circulation filter 3 is sandwiched between the upper and lower surfaces of the case 1 in close proximity to the outer periphery of the magnetic disk 2 .

There was a risk that the flow rates of the air flows I and j passing through the circulation filter 3 would be insufficient. In addition, magnetic disk drives have recently become smaller and the radius of the disk plate has become smaller, which has slowed down the speed of airflow caused by the magnetic disk. For this reason, the amount of air passing through the circulation filter becomes smaller and smaller, and there is a risk that the dust removal performance will be significantly degraded.

Due to this configuration, the air flow a is directed to the guide plate 4.
The air collides with the side surface 4 of the filter, causing air to flow and flowing into the circulation filter 3. Therefore, most of the air flow a generated by the rotation of the magnetic disk 2 passes through the circulation filter 3, and dust can be removed efficiently.

It is fixed to the circulation filter 3 in parallel with a plurality of magnetic disks 2 (two in this case) and sandwiched vertically. The closer the distance between the magnetic disk 2 and the guide plate 4, the greater the effect, but in reality, it is desirable to maintain a distance of about 0.5 degrees because the magnetic disk 2 has ridges and the like.・Figure 3 shows the circulation filter/3
and shows the structure of the guide plate 4. To install the guide plate 4,
It can be formed integrally with the circulation filter 3, or it can be attached using an appropriate method such as adhesive after the circulation filter 31C. At this time, the shape and length of the guide plate 4.

According to the present invention, since the guide plate for guiding the air flow is installed in the circulation filter, the flow rate of air passing through the circulation filter can be made sufficient even if the disk plate is small and the flow velocity of the air flow is slow. By changing the mounting position and shape of the guide plate, the air flow rate can be controlled as desired, making it possible to fully utilize the dust removal ability of the circulation filter.
