Description
本発明は、2−メルカプトベンゾチアゾール及
び/又はその塩を有効成分として含有し、人体に
対する安全性が高く効果の優れた木材用防虫防蟻
剤に関する。
木材は加工性、比強度、断熱特性等に富むため
優れた建築用材として、或は紙、パルプの原料で
あるチツプとして重要な資源であるが、腐る、燃
える、虫害を受ける等の欠点がある。
この木材は虫害、蟻害に対しては、従来
DDT、γ−BHC、デルドリン、PCP、クロルデ
ン、ホウ酸塩素等が使用されている。しかし、
DDT、γ−BHC、デルドリン及びPCPのラツト
に対する急性経口毒性はLD50が各々150,125,
46及び146mg/Kgと毒性が高く、比較的安全とさ
れているクロルデンでも283mg/Kgである。ま
た、ホウ酸塩素は低毒性であるが、防蟻効力が小
さいうえ水に溶脱され易く、用途が狭い範囲に限
定されている。これらのことから、防虫防蟻効果
に優れ、人体に対する安全性の高い防虫防蟻剤の
開発が要請されていた。
本発明者等は上記の事情に鑑み研究を重ねた結
果、LD50が2300mg/Kgと極めて安全性の高い2
−メルカプトベンゾチアゾール及び/又はその塩
が優れた防虫防蟻効果を有することを見出した。
本発明で使用できる2−メルカプトベンゾチア
ゾールの塩としては、ナトリウム、カリウム等の
アルカリ金属塩、マグネシウム、カルシウム等の
アルカリ土金属塩その他の金属塩及びアンモニウ
ム塩や通常の脂胞族第1級、第2級及び第3級ア
ミン塩並びに脂環式Pミン塩等の水溶性及び非水
溶性塩が挙げられる。
本発明における2−メルカプトベンゾチアゾー
ル及び/又はその塩は有機、無機の溶剤で、又は
界面活性剤等との組合せにより、水溶性剤、可溶
化剤、乳剤、ペースト、油溶性剤等種々の形態で
使用でき、いずれも2−メルカプトベンゾチアゾ
ルとして0.1〜40重量%の範囲の濃度で、木材の
種類、性状、含水率及び木材の処理方法等に応じ
て、その形態及び濃度を選択する。
本発明の防虫防蟻剤による木材の処理方法とし
ては、塗布、スプレー、漬浸、加圧等の一般の木
材の処理方法を適用することができるほか、接着
剤に混合することにより、虫害、蟻害を被る恐れ
のある合板等の多孔性の被着物に防虫、防蟻性を
付与することができ、また安全性が高く農作物等
