Abstract

PURPOSE:To display an unreceivable state through simple constitution without causing misrecognition as a ring-back tone nor adding any extra circuit newly by allowing a receiver to monitor its receiving operation state and displaying a nonreception state on a visual display device when specific receiving operation is not performed. CONSTITUTION:When it is decided that no signal is received by deciding on the rereception of a frame synchronizing signal and also deciding on the rereception of a group specifying signal after the reception of a call signal is monitored, a control circuit 6 judges a step-out state and initializes control operating. Then, if a step-out occurs during the initialization, that is displayed continuously on a liquid-crystal display device 41 for a specific time and when the remaining use time is calculated by battery voltage monitoring operation, the remaining use time is displayed. For example, when the receiver goes out of a communication area or if the reception state of a radio wave is not good in a tunnel, etc., the unreceivable state is displayed on the liquid-crystal display device 41.

Conventionally, selective call receivers, nicknamed Boke, Topel, etc., receive and demodulate selective call signals arriving from, for example, a base station, perform error correction calculations to correct errors, and then store signals in advance. It is configured so that it is compared with its own individual number code, and when the two match, a speaker is sounded to make a voice call. Some of these selective calling receivers have a function of monitoring the reception strength of radio waves to display an out-of-service area, or monitoring the battery output level to display a low voltage display.

However, conventional receivers equipped with such service functions generate the above-mentioned out-of-range indication and low-voltage indication by sound using a speaker used for calling, or by installing a light emitting diode etc. This is done by blinking. For this reason, it is difficult to distinguish it from a ringing tone, resulting in erroneous recognition, and since a new display circuit must be provided, the circuit configuration becomes complicated and large.

On the other hand, in recent years, a selective calling signal with an individual number code and a message code inserted in the information bit is received, the individual number code is compared with its own individual number code, and when the two match, a ringing sound is generated. A selective call receiver has been proposed which makes a call and decodes the message code and displays it on a visual display such as a liquid crystal display.

The receiving circuit 1 receives a selective call signal that has arrived from a base station via an antenna 11 in a radio circuit 12, demodulates the received output in a demodulation circuit 13, reproduces it into a baseband signal, and then converts it into a waveform shaping circuit. 14, the waveform is shaped.

The control circuit 6 includes a microprocessor as a main control section, and performs the following control. FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing the control procedure. That is,
During standby, the arrival of a frame synchronization signal is monitored while battery saving is performed. When the frame synchronization signal arrives, battery saving is canceled and the receiving circuit section 1 is placed in a continuous operating state, and then a battery voltage monitoring operation is performed. In this battery voltage monitoring operation, the battery voltage digitized by the ψ conversion circuit 52 is input, and it is first determined whether the battery voltage is below a predetermined level O or not. If it is determined that the input voltage level is below a predetermined level, the remaining usage time corresponding to the input voltage level is calculated based on the battery's durability characteristics (output level change over time), and this calculated value is temporarily stored in memory. Remember. Here, the durability characteristics of the battery are determined depending on the type of battery, and are as shown in FIG. 3, for example. This characteristic is stored in advance in the memory within the control circuit 6. In addition, ■ in the figure is the lowest voltage level (0.9V), and the above predetermined level O is this level ■

When the above battery voltage monitoring operation is completed, the control circuit 6
Next, it is first determined whether or not the frame synchronization signal is re-received, and if the frame synchronization signal is re-received, reception of the group designation signal is detected. When this group designation signal is received, the battery saving mode is restarted, and in this state, the arrival of a calling signal is monitored. Then, if a calling signal is received by this monitoring, this signal is memorized, and after that, it is determined whether or not the group designation signal is re-received within a predetermined number of times (for example, 10 times). It is compared with the individual number code, and if they match, a ringing tone is generated from the ringing display section 3. On the other hand, if the calling signal is not detected at a glance, a predetermined number of times (for example, 10 times) is detected.
It is determined whether or not the group designation signal is re-received within a certain period of time, and if it is re-received, the reception of the paging signal is monitored and thereafter the above-described comparison and verification is performed.

By the way, when it is determined that the signal is not received by the re-reception determination of the frame synchronization signal and the re-reception determination of the group designation signal after monitoring the reception of the calling signal, the control circuit 6 indicates that an out-of-synchronization has occurred. It is determined that this is the case and the control operation is returned to the initial state (standby state). At the time of recovery, if the synchronization has occurred, the liquid crystal display 41 continuously displays this fact for a certain period of time, and if the remaining usage time is calculated in the battery voltage monitoring operation, the remaining usage time is It is displayed continuously on the liquid crystal display 41 for a certain period of time.

With this configuration, for example, if the receiver goes outside the communication area or if the radio wave reception conditions are poor, such as in a tunnel, the liquid crystal display 41 will display a message that reception is not possible. By viewing this display, the user can clearly and easily know the reason why reception is not possible. Furthermore, even when the battery voltage has decreased, a warning to that effect is displayed on the liquid crystal display 41, thereby prompting the user to replace the battery. Furthermore, since this low voltage display displays the remaining usage time of the battery, it is possible to clearly notify the user when it is time to replace the battery, thereby providing a sense of security. Furthermore, in this embodiment, since the battery voltage monitoring operation is performed when the power mode is released, even when the internal resistance increases as the battery ages, it is possible to accurately detect the battery voltage during 4 degrees of operation, making it reliable. This has the advantage of allowing highly accurate monitoring.
