Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a special signal line for a signal indicative of a condition where printing can be performed, by providing a printer- controlling part with a means for detecting said condition of the printer on the basis of the presence or absence of a dot timing signal outputted from the printer. CONSTITUTION:When demand for printing is generated in the printer-controlling part 20, a signal for driving a motor in the printer 1 is first outputted to a motor-controlling signal line 5. When rotation of the motor is started and the rotation becomes stable after a predetermined period of time, a timing signal is outputted through a timing signal line 7 to be impressed on a controlling part 2. Simultaneously, the timing signal is impressed on a discriminating means 9 for discriminating whether or not printing can be performed, and it is discriminated that printing can be performed. Where printing can be performed, the part 2 outputs a desired printing head driving signal to a printing head driving signal line 6 in accordance with the timing signal to cause the printer 1 to print data according to the signal. Accordingly, there is no need for a special signal line for the signal indicative of the condition where printing can be performed, and the number of cables required can be reduced by that much.

Configuration of conventional examples and their problems In all conventional printer control devices of this type, as shown in FIG. A separate printable signal line 3 is provided to always see through the presence or absence of the printable signal. Therefore, in this type of printer, the power supply line 4. which supplies power to the printer 1. Motor control signal line 15 for controlling the motor in the printer 1

DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENT FIG. 2 is a schematic configuration diagram of an embodiment of the printer control device of the present invention, and in the figure, the same reference numerals as in FIG. 1 indicate the same components as in FIG. 1. . Printability determining means 10 receives a timing signal applied to the control unit 2 through the 9-digit timing signal line 7 and determines that printing is possible based on the presence of the timing signal.
This is a printable signal line that transmits the output of the printable determining means 9 to the control section 2.

In the embodiment 11, it is assumed that a print request is now issued to the printer control unit 2°. When a printing request is issued to the printer control section 20, first, a signal for driving the motor in the printer 1 is output to the motor control signal line 5. Therefore, the motor starts driving in this state (step 11 in FIG. 3).

When the motor starts rotating and stabilizes after a certain period of time (step 12 in Figure 3), a predetermined timing signal is output from the timing signal line 7.
In step 13) of FIG. 3, this is applied to the control section 2. At the same time, the timing signal 1. is applied to the printability determining means 1), which determines that printing is possible (
Step 171 in FIG. 3). If printing is possible, control unit 2
l', Al: Outputs the print head drive signal at 9I to the print head drive signal line 6 in accordance with the timing signal, and causes the printer 1 to print the data corresponding to each print (as shown in Fig. 3). Step 16). Then, a process is performed in which printing is not possible and the lifting operation is disabled (step 17 in FIG. 3), and then the motor of the printer 1 is stopped (step 18 in FIG. 3).

As described above, according to the above embodiment, it is configured to determine whether or not the printer is in a printable state depending on whether or not there is a timing signal that indicates the movement timing of the print head. Therefore, there is an advantage that a special printable signal line is not required, and the number of cables connecting the printer and the control section can be reduced accordingly.

Effects of the Invention As is clear from the above embodiments, the present invention is provided with means for detecting the printable state of the printer based on the presence or absence of a tod timing signal output from the printer in the printer control unit that controls the printer. Therefore, there is no need to provide a special printable signal line between the printer and the control unit, and there is an advantage that the cable connecting the two can be made simple.
