Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a composite blank material which permits brazing in the atm., has high brazing strength and prevents the exfoliation of a sheath material by using Ti or Ti alloy as a core material, cladding an intermediate layer consisting of a specific alloy to the outside thereof and cladding further the corrosion-resistant sheath material to the outside thereof. CONSTITUTION:The Ti or Ti alloy is used as the core material 1 and the Cu alloy contg. 2.5-50wt% Ni and 0.01-10wt% Sn and/or Al is clad as the intermediate layer 7 to the outside thereof. The sheath material 2 having good corrosion resistance and brazing characteristic, for example, any of an Ni-Cr alloy, Ni-Cu alloy or Au alloy is further clad to the outside thereof. The Ti and Cu alloy diffuse to each other to form Ti-Cu-Ni eutectic in the stage of hot extrusion or annealing and can add strength to joining when such Cu alloy is used for the intermediate layer 7. The abnormal growth of the Cu-Ti layer and the consequent exfoliation are prevented by the Sn or Al component when the brazing temp. is increased too much. The composite blank material for lightweight spectacle frames having good brazing workability and excellent durability and functionality is thus obtd.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Description of the field to which the invention pertains) The present invention relates to an improvement of a composite material for eyeglass frames, and more specifically, a composite material for eyeglass frames that has strong cladding strength and excellent brazing properties. (Prior art and its problems) However, Ti or Ti alloys have poor brazing properties, and in order to have strong strength, it is necessary to braze in a high vacuum or in a special atmosphere. Improvement was desired.

However, although this method has the advantage of preventing oxidation or nitridation of the Ti or Ti alloy core material 1 and allowing easy brazing in the atmosphere, the composite material 3 for eyeglass frames is rolled into a plate material 4. This plate material 4 is heated at 600°C using a brazing material 5 such as Ag wax or Au wax as shown in Fig. 4.
When brazing in air at ~900°C, extremely brittle metal open compounds 6 such as Ti-Ni and Ti-Au are generated at the interface between the core material 1 and the outer material 2. It had a fatal drawback of peeling off from the layer of compound 6.

(Objective of the Invention) The present invention has been made to eliminate such drawbacks, and provides an eyeglass frame that can be brazed in the atmosphere, has extremely high brazing strength, and does not peel off from the material used in the above example. (Structure of the Invention) The composite material for eyeglass frames of the present invention is as shown in FIG.
Ti or Ti alloy is used as the core material 1, and Ni is placed on the outside of this.
2.5 to 50% by weight and one or both of Sn and Al 0
.. A Cu alloy containing 01 to 10% by weight is clad as an intermediate layer, and a material 2 having good corrosion resistance and excellent brazing properties, such as Ni-Cr alloy, N1-C, is coated on the outside of this intermediate layer.
It is clad with any one of U alloy, Au alloy, Ag alloy, stainless steel, etc.

The reason for using the Cu-Ni alloy as the intermediate layer here is that Ti and the Cu-Ni alloy undergo interdiffusion during hot extrusion and strain relief annealing to form a Ti-Cu-Ni eutectic structure.
This is because it strengthens the bond. The reason why Ni is limited to 2.5 to 50% by weight is that if it is less than 2.5% by weight, Cu will bond preferentially and only a Cu-Ti layer will be formed, and if it exceeds 50% by weight, only a Ni-Ti layer will be formed. and these are Ti-Cu-
This is because it is more brittle than Ni eutectic, so it tends to peel off.

Furthermore, the reason why one or two types of Sn and Al are added is to prevent abnormal growth of the Cu--Ti layer and to prevent peeling if the brazing temperature is raised too much. This is T
i and Sn or Al combine preferentially over Cu-Ti,
This is because a solid solution of Sn-Ti or Al-Ti is formed, and these alloys are not brittle even when grown. Sn,A
The reason why the amount of one or both types of l is set to 0.01 to 10% by weight is because if it is less than 0.01% by weight, there is no effect, and if it exceeds 10% by weight, it becomes difficult to process.

Number of pieces tested: 5 As is clear from the table above, the test piece of Example 1.2 has significantly higher breaking strength and bonding strength than the conventional test piece. In addition, in the test piece of the conventional example, the joint surface between the core material 1 and the outer material 2 was a fracture surface, whereas in the test piece of the example, the base material was a fracture surface, and the joint surface between the core material 1 and the outer material 2 was a fracture surface. It can be seen that the bonding strength is high.
