Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve polishing efficiency by holding granular polishing material onto the surface of a block body made having a tennis-ball form and made of elastic material and permitting the grinding in use of the whole surface of an abrasive tool, in order to achieve easy polishing work. CONSTITUTION:An abrasive tool is constituted of a rubber block body 1 having a tennis-ball form and a surface covering layer 2 uniformly formed onto the whole surface of the outer peripheral surface, and the size of said abrasive tool is equal to that of a tennis ball. The block body 1 is made of soft urethane rubber, and the surface covering layer 2 is formed of the adhesive applied onto the outer peripheal surface of the block body 1 and the granular abrasive dispersed and solidified onto the surface of the adhesive. The abrasive tool is pressed onto the projection part of a metal mold W by an operator and then deformed, by the pressing force, to the shape conforming to the outer peripheral surface of the porjection part of the metal mold W. In this state, the pressing force necessary for deforming the abrasive tool acts onto the outer peripheral surface of the metal mold W, and when the abrasive tool is moved along the surface W, the surface of the projection part of the metal mold W is polished. Thus, the polishing efficiency can be improved by changing a rough abrasive material to a fine material.

[Prior Art] In a press mold or the like for press-forming a steel plate, such as the body of an automobile, it is necessary to polish the protrusions of the mold that come into contact with the steel plate smooth. If the protrusions of the mold are insufficiently polished, friction will increase between the protrusions of the mold and the steel plate, resulting in problems such as the steel plate being torn during press forming. For this reason, abrasive paper or abrasive abrasives have conventionally been used as polishing tools.

Then, using these abrasive papers and abrasive cloths, the worker presses the abrasive paper with the palm of his hand or the tips of his fingers, polishes the protrusions of the mold, and changes the abrasive paper sequentially from coarse to fine abrasive paper until the final stage. The surface was polished to a mirror-like smooth surface. Conventional polishing tools such as abrasive paper and polishing cloth are pressed with the palm or fingertips of the worker, and the pressing force polishes the mold. It was difficult to finish the surface with a smooth surface because the force applied was not uniform. In addition, polishing was a difficult task, requiring great skill.

[Detailed Description of the Structure of the Invention] The block constituting the polishing tool of the present invention is made of an elastic material. Elastic materials include rubber, soft plastics,
Alternatively, it is a rubber or plastic foam that deforms elastically when pressed by the hand, and the soul itself easily deforms along with the pressure, and returns to its original shape when the pressure is removed. things are suitable. If the mass is a foam, large deformations are easily obtained. Specifically, rubbers include natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, EPR, urethane rubber, etc., and soft plastics include ethylene-butadiene rubber.
Vinyl acetate copolymers and the like can be used.

The surface containing the granular abrasive material may be comprised of the surface of the surface coating layer. This surface coating layer is connected to the adhesive layer formed on the upper surface of the ball-shaped mass and the adhesive F! Consists of granular abrasive material fixedly held in place. Alternatively, a bag may be made of conventional abrasive paper or abrasive cloth to match the outer circumferential surface of the ball-like agglomerate, this bag may be held on the outer circumferential surface of the ball-like agglomerate, and the surface of the bag may be used.

[Effects of the Invention] Since the polishing tool of the present invention is ball-shaped, it is convenient for an operator to grasp the polishing tool and slide the polishing tool against the mold surface. Further, the polishing tool pressed against the mold surface by the operator is elastically deformed by the pressing force of the operator, comes into close contact with the mold surface, and presses the mold surface with the force required for elastic deformation.

When the polishing tool of the present invention is shaped like a tennis ball, its outer surface is the same in all parts. Therefore, by changing the surface of the polishing tool pressed against the mold surface by 111a, the entire surface of the polishing tool can be used uniformly. In addition, when the polishing tool is rugby ball-shaped, by holding the center part of the rugby ball-shaped polishing tool with your hand and rubbing it against the mold surface with the center part as the center 5-, it is possible to create a relatively wide polishing tool. Polishing becomes possible. Therefore, a relatively large area can be easily polished at one time. In addition, if the granular abrasive material is fixedly held on the surface coating layer, the surface coating layer that has worn out due to use can be regenerated with adhesive and the granular abrasive material, and the same ball-shaped lump can be used to create a semi-permanent coating. It can be used as a polishing tool. Furthermore, if the granular abrasive material is dispersed and held throughout the soul, the abrasive tool can be used for a long time until it wears out and becomes smaller.

The size of this polishing tool is approximately the same size as a tennis ball, and can fit in the palm of a human hand. The block 6-body 1 is soft urethane rubber. The surface coating layer 2 is composed of an adhesive applied to the outer circumferential surface of the block 1 and a granular abrasive material spread and fixed on the surface of the adhesive. Note that the granular abrasive material is preferably fixed in an exposed state on the surface of the surface coating Pi2. However, it may be embedded in the surface coating layer 2. Note that the surface coating layer 2
If it is buried inside, the surface coating layer 2 must be polished to maintain its flexibility)! l It is preferable that the intervals between $4 are far apart.

The polishing tool of this embodiment has the above structure. This polishing tool is pressed against the protrusion of the mold W by the hand of an operator, as shown in FIG. 2, which shows a cross section of the tool in use. The polishing tool is deformed by this pressing force and is deformed into a shape along the outer peripheral surface of the protrusion of the mold W as shown in FIG. In this state, the pressing force required to deform the polishing tool acts on the outer peripheral surface of the mold W. In this state, the polishing tool is moved by the operator in a direction perpendicular to the plane of FIG. 2 to polish the surface of the protrusion of the mold W.
