Abstract

PURPOSE:To make polishing for a metal mold projecting part ever so easy as well as to aim at improvements in operation efficiency, by holding a polishing body, having elasticity and sticking abrasives on its outer surface, with a holding member, while polishing a work in a way of pressing the polishing body to the work. CONSTITUTION:A polishing device is formed of locking a polishing body 1 to a holding member 2 by means of a bonding agent 3, while the polishing body 1 is of almost spherical in type and its surface is made up of sponge urethene rubber dispersing granular abrasives of Carborundum or the like, and a partically projected convex part 1a is secured tight to the holding member 2 by a bonding agent. Likewise, the holding member 2 is of tubular form, and its material in quality uses metal or resin. When this is used, an operator grips the holding member 2 and presses the surface of the polishing body 1 to a projecting part of a metal mold W to be polished, reciprocating it, thus polishing takes place. Like this, work is easy to be done and the operator is in no case fatigued so that machining efficiency is well improvable.

In press molds used to press-form steel plates into the shuttle of automobile bodies, the protrusions of the die that come into contact with the steel plate must be smoothed (σl). If this is insufficient, friction will increase between the protrusion of the mold and the steel plate to be press-formed, resulting in problems such as the steel plate being torn during press-forming.

Conventional polishing tools such as abrasive paper and cloth (σ) are pressed with the worker's palm or fingertips, and the pressing force is applied to the mold. It was difficult to raise the surface to a uniform smooth surface because the force used to transfer the paper was uneven, and polishing required skill and was a difficult task. Ta.

The polishing object in the polishing tool of the present invention has elasticity, and has an abrasive material held on its outer surface by an adhesive or the like. It is also possible to use a sanding method in which commercially available abrasive paper is applied to the outer surface of the shell. A space may be formed inside the polishing object, or the space may be filled with an elastic material such as a sponge. When a space is formed, it is preferable that the space is filled with a fluid having a constant convexity or a variable convexity, since the polishing object as a whole needs to have elasticity. Air is preferable as the fluid. If the amount of the fluid is constant, the pressure in the space will be constant, but the amount of the fluid can be adjusted by, for example, connecting a valve and an output pipe to the space. With the 4B4 configuration and the J- configuration, the pressure in the space can be adjusted freely, and it can be immediately adjusted to the shape and size of the convex portion (or concave portion) of the mold that is the workpiece.

The polishing tool according to the present invention does not work by holding the polishing object by hand and pressing it to the place to be processed, but by holding the polishing object by a holding member, and manually holding the holding member. Since the holding member is held by the machine or held by the machine for machining, the work is easy and the worker does not get tired, and therefore it is possible to improve machining efficiency or work efficiency. In particular, if automation is performed using machines, the work can be further increased.
