Even though the fiber itself has excellent properties, when it is molded into a matrix to form a reinforcing plate, it is not always possible to obtain satisfactory toughness. In particular, many ceramics with excellent properties have been developed in recent years, but no suitable reinforcing fibers existed to reinforce them.

The present invention was completed based on the knowledge that the shirasu fiber having the above-mentioned properties is optimal.

Although either wood or metal can be used, this fiber has alkali resistance properties not found in other reinforcing fibers, so it can exhibit the most excellent characteristics when used together with ceramics. Note that epoxy resin is mainly used as the plastisilas, and aluminum alloy is mainly used as the metal.
