Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled bearing prevented from the crack in the shaft contact surface of the bearing metal thereof, by forming an intermediate plating layer having good adhesiveness to either one of a plating layer comprising a material having good affinity to the shaft of the uppermost layer and the bearing metal between the uppermost plating layer and the bearing metal. CONSTITUTION:A bearing metal 2 comprising a white metal is cast on the back metal 1 of a bearing and an intermediate plating layer 6 based on Pb or Sn having good adhesiveness either one of the surface plating layer 7 comprising a material such as Pb or Sn contacted with the shaft 3 of the uppermost layer and having good affinity thereto and the bearing metal 2 are provided so as to be interposed between both layers. By forming the bearing into a structure comprising a multi-layer plating, the plating layer generating no crack or peeling to the bearing metal 2 is obtained.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a structure for preventing cracks by plating bearing metal.

The plating on the contact surface of the bearing metal to prevent cracks, the so-called overlay, naturally needs to be made of a material that has good compatibility with the shaft (and good adhesion to the bearing metal). Conventionally, this plating layer has a thickness of 10 to 30 μm and is mainly composed of lead, tin, copper, etc.

However, there are few materials that have both the properties of adhesion and crack prevention, and materials that conform well to the shaft, that is, materials that can prevent the bearing metal from cranking, have poor adhesion to the bearing metal. Therefore, materials that are easily peeled off and have good adhesion to the bearing metal tend to have a tendency to cause cranking in the bearing metal because they do not conform well to the shaft. Therefore, the present invention solves this problem by forming the plating layer into two or more layers made of different materials, allowing these layers to share the function of adhesion to the bearing metal and the function of preventing cracks, and by selecting materials with good adhesion between adjacent layers. We decided to solve the problem. This will be explained by comparing FIG. 1 of the conventional example and FIG. 2 of the present invention.

In the conventional example shown in FIG. 1, an overlay 5 is plated on the bearing metal 2. FIG. 2 shows an example of the present invention, in which the surface plating layer 7 in contact with the uppermost shaft 3 is made of a material that is compatible with the shaft 3 and has a thickness of 5 microns or more. An intermediate plating layer 6 made of a material with good adhesiveness and having a thickness of 5 microns or more is placed on both of them. Examples of such combinations of materials include the following.

If the intermediate plating layer is made of only one material and it is difficult to obtain a good combination with the adjacent material, the intermediate plating layer may be made of two or three layers of appropriately selected materials.
Consists of layered plating layers. Through such an intermediate plating layer, the surface plating, which is compatible with the shaft, and the bearing metal are firmly bonded, and the plating layer can be coated without causing cracks in the bearing metal or peeling.
