Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the operability of quick-feed means of a moving mechanism by providing a ball screw device with a circulating path for circulating balls, a pair of half nuts, linean retaining means and a relief groove formed on the bottom of a valley of a screw groove. CONSTITUTION:A ball screw device 1 comprising a screw shaft 2, a nut 3 and a screw groove 4 is provided with a circulation path 10, a pair of half nuts 3a, 3b formed by axially dividing the nut 3, linear retaining means 6 for retaining balls in the screw grooves of the half nuts, and a relief groove 12 formed on the bottom of a valley of the screw groove. In this arrangement, when the half nuts engaged with the screw shaft are radially opened and closed, and attached and detached, the balls are kept from slipping off.
