Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a higher reliability of a ink jet head by arranging an suction port between an ink jet head and a recording paper to suck in an ink mist so that the flow of air running through the suction port is almost at the right angle to the direction of jetting ink liquid drops. CONSTITUTION:A suction port 24 for recovering an ink mist 23 and an discharge port 25 are provided between a head 21 and a recording paper 22. With the action of a pump 26, the ink mist 23 is introduced into an suction port 24 to obtain air cleared of the ink mist 23 with a filter 27 and this air flow is run again to the discharge port 25. This enables the recovery of the ink mist 23 preventing it from flowing to the head 21 thereby eliminating the fouling of the head, resulting in a higher reliability of the equipment.

Structure of a conventional example and its problems FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of a conventional ink mist removing device. The head 3 faces the recording paper 2 attached to the drum 1.
When the ink droplets 5 collide with each other on the recording paper 2, an ink mist is generated. In order to prevent stains caused by this ink mist, a head cover 6 is provided to house the head 3 and extend its open end to a position close to the recording paper 2. An ink mist suction unit 7 is connected to the head cover 6 to cover the head. The ink mist floating in the tank 6 is forcibly discharged.

Although such a method is effective in storing ink mist, it also has drawbacks. That is, as shown in FIG. 2, when an ink droplet 5 collides with the recording paper 2, an ink mist 1o is generated radially. The area around the head 3 becomes extremely dirty. In this case, a large amount of ink also adheres to the portion facing the ink nozzle 12, which may block the ink nozzle 12, making ink ejection unstable or causing the ejection direction to be bent in one direction. Also, if left in this state, it may lead to the formation of vertigo in the ink nozzle 12.
From the point of view of the reliability of the head 3, this was not a desirable state.

An air circuit is formed in which the ink mist 23 is guided to the suction port 24 by the action of the pump 26, air from which the ink mist 23 has been removed by the filter 27 is obtained, and this air flow is flown again to the discharge port 25. With such a configuration, since the ink mist 23 flows along the air flow, the ink mist 2
3 is prevented from moving toward the head 21, and the head 21 can be prevented from being contaminated by the ink mist 23.

FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the invention. Third
Components that are the same as those in the figures are designated by the same numbers, and descriptions thereof will be omitted. In this embodiment, suction ports 28 and 29 are provided between the head 21 and the recording paper 22 so as to be sandwiched above and below, and are connected to a pump 26 via a filter 27. When the pump 26 performs a suction operation, the ink mist 23 flows into the suction port 28.
The air is sucked in through the air filter 29, passes through the filter 27, and is discharged through the exhaust port 3o.

Note that the ink mist suction ports 24, 28, and 29 are fixed to a head moving table to which the head 21 is attached.
Alternatively, the ink mist suction ports 24.2B, 29 may be fixed at fixed positions and may be separated from the head moving table to which the head 21 is attached. . In the latter case, the suction port needs to have a width that corresponds to the amount of movement of the head moving table.

Effects of the Invention As described above, the present invention provides an ink mist removing device that includes a suction port that sucks ink mist in a direction perpendicular to the jetting direction of ink droplets between an inkjet head and a recording paper.
Since the ink mist can be collected while preventing the ink mist from flowing toward the head, problems such as head contamination due to ink mist and instability of ink jetting can be solved. Improved reliability.
