Description

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of Industrial Application The present invention relates to packaging containers. More particularly, the present invention relates to a packaging container for displaying a type of writing instrument that incorporates means to prevent the writing instrument from being shoplifted from the packaging container.

PRIOR ART AND ITS PROBLEMS Merchandise is often displayed to consumers from transparent containers hung side by side with similar items. Small items are more likely to become a target for people who feel like shoplifting them. In the past, in order to prevent shoplifting from occurring, goods were sometimes more expensive to manufacture than the goods being sold, or when purchased they were placed in containers that were difficult to open to remove the goods. It would be highly desirable to provide an inexpensive disposable packaging container that allows the item to be viewed while protecting the item from damage or shoplifting. It would also be desirable to be able to easily open the packaging once the item has been purchased.

The present invention has particular application to writing instruments such as pens (of the type having pocket clips) and pencils. However, the invention may also be applied to other articles 1 of similar construction and should not be considered limited to what has been described herein.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention overcomes the shortcomings of the prior art and provides an integral ball folded along a plurality of weak parallel lines formed during manufacture to form an uneven surface between the flanges on either side of the surface. This is accomplished by providing a preferred embodiment that includes a paper body.

A transparent panel member is secured to each flange and extends across the concave side of the surface to form an elongated cavity in which the scrolls are placed and displayed.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the face member includes an aperture through which the pen clip extends to the outer surface of the face of the packaging container. In another embodiment of the invention, another hole in the face member accommodates the protrusion of the free end of the pocket clip. The combination of apertures and holes securely hold the honeycomb within the packaging container.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the packaging includes means to thwart the intention to remove the writing instrument by lifting the face member to remove the pen clip from the aperture. The surface member is positioned proximate to the anomie and has an interruption in the surface. Therefore, the removal force is not transmitted to the aperture portion of the face member, making it difficult to remove the clip from the aperture.
