ポリエチレン又は架橋ポリエチレン等のオレフィン重合
体を主組成物とした絶縁体をもつ電線ケーブルは現在広
く使用されており、その電圧階級は年と共に大きく上昇
して来ている。ところでこのような電線ケーブルに於て
もっとも大きな問題は、これらの電線、ケーブルが課電
を続けると徐々に劣化をきたすことである。劣化の機構
について数多くの研究が行われているが、現在まで明確
にされていない。このため発明者らは鋭意研究した結果
、上記劣化を抑えることのできる電気絶縁ケーブルを発
明することが出来た。

ンの共重合体とエチレン酢酸ビニル共重合体からなる組
成物全架橋することにより電気劣化を抑えケーブルの長
寿命化に成功した。

本発明に於て、エチレンとα−オレフィンの共重合体は
、α−オレフィンの炭素数が8以下がのぞましい。炭素
数が8を越えるとその理由は明らかでないが電気劣化を
抑える効果が小さい。また密度が0.91より小さいと
初期の破壊電界が低下してくる。又重量平均分子量と数
平均分子量が3より小さいと長尺ケーブルの場合、低電
圧初期破壊をお・こす割合が増加する。又エチレン4酢
酸ビニル共重合体の酢酸ビニル量が1係より小さいと電
気劣化を抑える効果が小さく、10係と越すとtanδ
 が大きくなる欠点に有する。
