Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain wick of an oil stove suitable for high-quality mass production at a low cost, by knitting warp with weft, entwining short fibers so as to form a felt shape, continuously stitching tape shaped burning wick cloth to the long side of the knitted cloth, cutting the cloth, and stiching the cut surfaces into a cylindrical shape. CONSTITUTION:By using a raschel knitting machine, warp using thick twist yarn is arranged in a width, which is a plurality of times of a height H of desired stove wick. The warp is knitted by using suitable pieces of weft at critical positions so as to form a reed screen. Then, short fibers and the like are overlapped on knitted cloth from the upper and lower sides and needle-punch machining is performed. Thus felt formed knitted cloth having a unitary body is formed. The knitted cloth is cut to the width H corresponding to the height of the stove wick, and several sheets of long, tape-shaped knitted cloths 6 are obtained. Tape shaped burning wick cloth 4 is continuously stitched to one edge of each tape shaped knitted cloth 6 by sewing machine. Thereafter, the cloth is cut into the circumferential width of the wick with a cutter. The cut pieces are stitched into a cylindrical shape, and the stove wick is completed.

Previously, the present inventor has published a patent application for a ``method for manufacturing stove wicks'' which is a further improvement on the conventional method described above.
No. 170 (Patent No. 785021), but the gist of this was [Glass, cotton, or other fibers are bundled or thick twisted threads are arranged horizontally, and glass fiber layers deposited in different directions on both the front and back surfaces are polymerized. A needle with a sharp tip and bulges on the left and right front and back was inserted into both the front and back sides, and a glass fiber was inserted into the needle hole to perform a so-called needle punching process, creating a state similar to that of a woven fabric. It was a method of manufacturing wicks for stoves and stoves. When manufacturing a C stove wick using the knitted fabric obtained by this method, the following process was used.

This J cloth was cut at equal intervals to the height and width H of the stove wick shown by broken lines A-A and A-A to form the °C oil-absorbing wick 3, which was shown in the developed plan view of the wick in Figure 2. A heat-resistant combustion wick fabric 4 is sewn to one end of the stove, and then this is sewn into a cylindrical shape to complete the stove wick. FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the completed stove wick as described above.

However, this manufacturing method requires 2C, after cutting the oil absorbing core 3, 1
The combustion core fabric 4 has to be sewn onto each piece one by one, making it impossible to produce fabrics using automation, and knitted fabrics made only by needle punching tend to stretch between the warp yarns, resulting in dimensional stability. This had the disadvantage that the oil wicking meter became partially unbalanced due to poor performance.

(2) The weft threads 5 in the cross section of the knitted fabric produced by the conventional Russell knitting machine fray easily and require treatment to prevent fraying, but the main knitted fabric uses the needle punch method to intertwine the short threads to create a felt-like shape. Since the weft is formed in a straight line, there is no possibility of fraying from the weft yarn even after cutting. Therefore, there is no loss during manufacturing.
