Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily obtain a high-quality print by forming on a base a layer made of a solid UV-hardenable resin incorporating a dye or pigment, exposing it through a light- intercepting mask, overlaying the sheet to be printed on the exposed layer, and transferring the unexposed adhesive parts to said material with a pair of heating rollers. CONSTITUTION:A base 2, such as plastic sheet, is coated with a soln. of a UV-hardenable resin, such as epoxy acrylate, e.g., ''Epoxy VR-90'' made by SHOWA KOBUNSHI K.K., contg. a proper amt. of dye or pigment, and dried to form an unhardened resin layer 3 serviceable as a printing medium 1. For example, a transparent sheet coated with a vapor-deposited aluminum film is subjected to dielectric breakdown by discharge of an electrical signal carrying information to open windows 6 through the aluminum film to form a light intercepting mask 4. UV rays are irradiated through this mask to the printing medium 1 to leave the unexposed parts 9 under the intercepted parts of the mask 4 unhardened and to harden the exposed parts 8 under the windows 6. A material to be transferred 11 is overlaid on the medium 10 and the parts 9 is transferred to the material 11 with a pair of heating rollers 10. A printing medium thus obtained can be used for a high quality print, and further, a high quality color print.

Conventional configuration and its problems In recent years, office automation using computers has become popular. Printers are indispensable for office automation. Get calculation results or create sentences using a word processor, print them out, and make them into letters! A $1 increase is a must. Several printing methods, particularly methods for immediately converting electrical signals into printed matter, are currently in practical use. For example, laser printers, wire tod printers,
They are used depending on their purpose, such as inkjet printers, thermal printers, and electrical discharge rupture printers.

Structure of the Invention The printing medium of the present invention is made of at least a base layer and a solid ultraviolet curable resin layer, and as described below, the ultraviolet curable resin layer is irradiated with a light image containing ultraviolet rays. The difference in adhesion under heat between the hardened and uncured parts is used to transfer the material to the transfer object, allowing for highly accurate and high quality printing. Of course, the color of the ink can be chosen freely, and color printing is also possible.

The printing medium 1 consists of a base layer 2 and a solid ultraviolet curable resin layer 3. Here, the solid ultraviolet curable resin layer 3 contains at least one of a dye or a pigment, and the resin is uncured. Therefore, if heated above the melting point, it becomes sticky. A plastic sheet can be used for the base layer 2. The ultraviolet curable resin layer 3 is made of, for example, Lipoxy VR-90 (epoxy 7 acrylate) 1 manufactured by Showa Kobunshi Co., Ltd.
00 parts by weight and 3 parts by weight of benzyl were dissolved in a suitable solvent,
It can be prepared by mixing an appropriate amount of dye or pigment into this, applying it to the surface of the base layer 2, and drying it.

FIG. 2 shows the process of printing using the print medium shown in FIG. First, as shown in FIG. 2a, a light-shielding mask 4 is placed above the printing medium 1, and light 6 containing ultraviolet rays is irradiated. At this time, uncured portions 9 and hardened portions 8 are formed in the ultraviolet curable resin layer 3 corresponding to the light shielding portions 7 and windows 6 of the mask, respectively. When heated, the uncured portions exhibit tackiness, but the cured portions no longer exhibit tackiness. The thus treated printing medium is stacked on the printing material 11 as shown in FIG. 2, and the ultraviolet curable resin layer is brought into close contact with the heated roller 1o. After that, when the printing medium is peeled off, the uncured portion 9 of the ultraviolet curable resin layer remains on the printing material 11 as shown in FIG. 2C. If this is exposed to ultraviolet light again, the resin will harden and will no longer exhibit tack even when heat is applied, allowing it to be fixed.
