使用中に乾燥表面を維持すること、吸収芯をより効率的
に使用するようにするために吸収される液体の製品内部
への吸い上げ性（ｗｉｃｋｉｎｇｃｈａｒａｃｔｅｒｉ
ｓｔｉｃｓ）及び分散の向上、摩擦耐性、等がある。
本発明者等は吸収性製品に使用される新規な表面材料を
見い出した。
この新規表面材料はすぐれた柔軟性と良好な吸い上げ及
び液体分散特性を有する。さらに、この新規表面材料は
非常に柔軟で、吸収性がよく、摩擦耐性があつて、これ
を吸収性製品に使用すると、片方の表面が使用中に吸収
芯を適所に安定に保持するようになつて製品全体の安定
性が向上する。本発明によると、ステープル長さのセル
ロース性紡織繊維１０ないし３０％、毛羽状にした木材
パルプ６０ないし８０％及び樹脂結合剤物質５ないし２
５（Ｆｔ）からなる重量が少なくとも１オンス／平方ア
ート（３４９／イ）で吸収芯をおおうために使用するの
に適した吸収性表面材料であつて、該表面材料は紡織繊
維をその片側の面だけに、また木材パルプを実質的に反
対側の面だけに含有しており、゛該樹脂結合剤は紡織繊
維を含有する表面上に周期的な模様状にほどこされてお
り、結合剤の濃度は木材パルプ面側より紡織繊維面側の
方がより大きく、それはより該表面材料は柔軟で吸収性
が高く、紡織繊維面は良好な摩擦耐性を有し、木材パル
プ面は使用中における吸収芯の安定化をたすけることを
特徴とする吸収性表面材料およびその製造方法が提供さ
れる。
本発明の吸収性表面材料において、セルロース性紡織繊
維は、この材料が充分の耐摩粍性有するためには、少な
くとも１０％存在しなければならないが、３００／）を
越えると、材料の柔軟性が低下する。
木材パルプは充分な吸収性を確保するためには、少なく
とも６０％含有されていなければならない。し力化８０
％を越えると、セルロース性紡織繊維の占める割合が低
下し、耐摩耗性が劣化する。結合剤物質は、この材料が
一体性（形状安定性）を保つためには、少なくとも、５
重量％含まれていなければならず、しかしながら、２５
％を越えると、材料の柔軟性が失われる。この材料の重
量は満足な液体吸収性と保持性を確保するためには少な
くとも１オンス／平方アート（３４９／ＴＩ）なければ
ならない。本発明の新規表面材料を製造するには、紡織
長さ（Ｔｅｘ［Ｉｌｅｌｅｎｇｔｈ）のセルロース性繊
維のウエブを形成し、この紡織繊維ウエブの片面に木材
パルプを均一に堆積させて繊維一木材パルプの積層体を
形成する。
この積層体を一対の移動表面の間でおさえつけ、積層体
をおさえつけたま＼水で完全に湿らせる。水親和性樹脂
結合剤を積層体のウエブ側に模様状にほどこして、樹脂
を湿つた積層体に付着させる。樹脂がほどこされた積層
体を乾燥して水分を除去すると共に結合剤を硬化させる
と、吸収性の表面材料ができ上る。この表面材料は吸収
芯と組み合わせて使用され、その際の吸収芯としては毛
羽状にした木材パルプまたは吸収性タレープ・テイシユ
一、或いはこれらに類似した非常に吸収性の材料がある
。
表面材料は吸収芯全体を包みこむように使用してもよい
し、或いは芯の片面だけをおおうように使用して、芯の
反対側の表面はポリエチレン等のような防水フイルムで
おおうようにしてもよい。使用に際し、表面材料はその
木材パルプ面の方が吸収芯と接触するように芯に適用さ
れ、セルロース性紡織繊維に富む面が最終製品の露出面
となるようにする。この配置形態は摩擦耐性のあるなめ
らかで柔かい表面をもつ吸収性製品を生ずる。表面材は
また、芯の中に吸収されつつある液体を均一に吸い上げ
て分散させる作用も助ける。さらに、この配置は吸収性
が非常によく、セルロース性紡織繊維面より摩擦係数の
高い木材パルプ面の方が吸収芯と接触しているので、使
用中に芯をその場所に安定化させて保持する。本発明を
添付図面と共に詳しく説明する。
添付図面において、第１図は本発明の新規吸収性表面材
料の平面図であり、第２図は第１図の２２線に沿つてと
つた断面図であり、第３図は本発明の新規吸収性表面材
料を利用した生理用ナプキンを示し、第４図は本発明の
新規吸収性表面材料を利用した使い捨てオムツを示し、
第５図は本発明の方法を実施するのに有用な装置の図式
的フローシートである。
第１図及び第２図をみると、本発明の吸収性表面材料が
図示されている。
吸収性表面材料１０は、セルロース性のステープル長さ
の紡織繊維からなる上層１１と、毛羽状にした木材パル
プからなる下層１２とで構成される。樹脂結合剤１３は
紡織繊維層に実質的に非結合の六角形区域１４ができる
ような模様状に紡織繊維層の上にほどこされている。第
２図からより明らかにわかるように、結合剤の量は紡織
繊維層１１の方が表面材の残りの部分より多くなつてい
る。使用するセルロース性繊維は、木綿、レーヨン等の
ような任意の天然または人造セルロース性繊維でよい。
セルロース性繊維は少なくとも閉インチ（１．２７ｃｍ
）から２．５インチ（６．４ｃｒｆＬ）以上までの長さ
のものでなければならない。最小限度の繊維長さは、積
層体を最終的な表面材料を製造するための諸工程中を移
送するため、及び最終製品に強度を付与するために必要
である。木材パルプはクラフトパルプ、亜硫酸パルプ等
のような任意の公知木材パルプでよい。
パルプは吸収性の高い微細な毛羽状の粒子状形態に粉砕
される。積層体を一体的に保つために使用される結合剤
は、不織布を結合するのに使用されている周知の重合体
樹脂結合剤のどれでもよく、たとえば自己架橋性アクリ
ル樹脂、ポリ塩化ビニル樹脂、ポリ酢酸ビニル樹脂等で
ある。
結合剤はセルロース性紡織繊維を含んでいる表面にあら
かじめ決められた模様で使用される。吸収される液体の
吸い上げ分散を助けるようにセルロース性紡織繊維面上
に実質的に結合されない繊維区域が残存する限り、模様
は図示のような六角形の形状、或いは環状、または点、
或いはその他の形状でよい。所望の柔軟性、摩擦耐性、
及び吸収性を有する表面材料を製造するため、また最終
製品の使用中に吸収芯を安定に保持するために、表面材
の重量は少なくとも１オンス／平方アート（３４９／イ
）であるのがよい。
これより軽量の材料は、所望の吸収性及び所望の芯の安
定保持のどちらも与えないだろう。第３図には、本発明
の吸収性表面材料をナプキンのカバーとして利用してい
る生理用ナプキン１６が示されている。
このナプキンは吸収芯１７で構成され、この芯は何枚も
重ねたクレープテイシユ一、毛羽状にした木材パルプの
厚い層、或いはこれらに似た非常に吸収性の材料のもの
でよい。芯１７は本発明の表面材料１８で包まれていて
、その際木材パルプ繊維を高濃度で含有している表面の
方が芯と接触するようにして芯をその場所に安定に保持
する。第４図には本発明の表面材料を利用した使い捨て
オムツ２０が示されている。
このオムツは、何枚も重ねたクレープテイシユ一或いは
毛羽状にした木材パルプ芯のいずれでもよい吸収芯２１
から構成されている。芯はポリエチレンフイルムのよう
な水反撥性すなわち防水性フイルム２２で裏うちされて
いる。芯の反対側の表面は本発明の表面材料２３でおお
われている。表面材料２３は木材パルプ面の方が芯と接
触するように置かれていて、使用中に芯をその場所に安
定化保持する。したがつて、セルロース性紡織繊維表面
がオムツの外表面を形成しており、これは柔軟で、摩擦
耐性があり、非常に吸収性がよい。第３図及び第４図に
は生理用ナプキン及び使い捨てオムツが図示されている
が、本発明の表面材料を使用しうる吸収性製品はその他
にも種々のものがあり、たとえばタンホン、アンダーパ
ツド、包帯等がある。
第５図には、本発明の吸収性表面材料の製造装置の１形
態が図式的に描かれている。
ステープル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維のラツプ２５が
標準カード機２６に送られ、カーデイングされた繊維の
ウエブ２７は標準ドツフアコーム２８によつてカード機
からかき取られ、移動コンベヤ２９に乗せられる。一方
、木材パルプボード３０は逆向き回転している歯状ロー
ル３１及び３２の間に送られ、木材パルプが粉砕されて
ロード３３を通つてカードウエブの表面上に堆積する。
得られたセルロース性繊維と木材パルプとの積層体は、
連続有孔ベルト３４と回転有孔ドラム３５の間でびつた
りおさえつけられる。ベルトはドラムの外周の一部と接
触しており、適当なノズル３６から水が有孔ドラムを通
つて、ウエブを通りぬけ、ベルトから外に出るように噴
霧され、積層体を完全に湿らせる。ベルト、ドラム及び
積層体は同じ線速度で移動する。湿つた積層体３７は一
対の回転ロール３８及び３９を通る。下側ロール３８は
樹脂結合剤の貯槽４０の中を回転している。このロール
の表面には所望の結合剤模様が彫りこんである。ロール
３８は湿つた積層体のセルロース性紡織繊維面の方と接
触して、この積層体に樹脂結合剤を模様状に付着させる
。結合剤を含んだ積層体はコンベヤ４１に乗つて、乾燥
機４２を通過し、ここで積層体の乾燥と結合剤の硬化が
起る。結合剤で接着された不織表面材料４３は巻きとら
れる。表面材を各種の吸収芯と組み合せて使用して、既
に述べた最終製品を製造することができる。セルロース
性紡織繊維ウエブの形式は、カーデイング、空気利用ウ
エブ形成法、湿式ウエブ形成法等のような標準的方法に
より行なうことができる。
木材パルブは、バウアーミル、ハンマーミル等のような
パルプボードを粉砕して微細な粒子状木材パルプ物質に
する任意の公知粉砕法によつて形成することができる。
繊維−パルプ積層体は、一対の移動有孔面の間でおさえ
られて、水で完全に湿らされる。
パルプ−繊維積層体は、湿らされるときに積層体の一体
性を生ずるようにぴつたりおさえつけられた状態になつ
ていることが本発明によつて重要である。積層体が湿ら
されるときにぴつたりおさえられていないと、これはそ
の望ましい均一拙を失なつて、好適な表面材料をつくら
ないだろう。湿つた積層体は捺染のような公知技法によ
つて結合剤で接着される。結合剤はセルロース性繊維を
含有する表面上に置くことが本発明にとつて重大な要素
である。これは、結合剤を積層体の木材パルプ面に置い
たときに生ずる木材パルプ繊維の捺染ロールへの付着を
防ぐために重要である。結合剤を置いた積層体は乾燥さ
せて、水分を除去すると共に樹脂結合剤を硬化させて、
繊維と木材パルプを一体的に接合し、最終的な表面材料
が形成される。以下に、本発明の吸収性表面材料を製造
するのに使用される本発明の方法の１例を例示する。実
施例標準的なカード機を使用してカードウエブを形成す
る。
このウエブは重量がほ＼゛２００クレーン／平方アート
（１５．５９／ｄ）であつて、１−９／１６インチ（３
．９７ｃｍ）、１．５デニールのビスコースレーヨン繊
維から形成される。木材パルプボードをバウアーミルを
利用して粉砕し、完全に毛羽状にした木材パルプをカー
ドワエブ上に沈積させる。ほゾ７００クレーン／平方ア
ート（５４９β）の毛羽状木材パルプをカードウエブ上
に置かれる。得られた繊維−パルプ積層体を回転してい
る有孔ドラムと移動している有孔ベルトの間にぴつたり
はさんで、水分捕集率１００重量％以上まで水で飽和さ
せる。湿つた積層体を一対のロールにより形成されるニ
ツプを通過させる。紡織繊維面の方と接触するロールの
表面には、第１図に示したような六角形の模様を生ずる
線模様が彫刻されている。使用した結合剤は自己架橋性
アクリル樹脂エマルジヨンであつて、これは積層体の紡
織繊維の多い面の方に捺染される。自己架橋性アクリル
樹脂を含んだ積層体を加熱して、水分を追い出すと共に
、樹脂を架橋させる。ほゾ１８０クレーン／平方アート
（１３．９５９／イ）の樹脂が積層体に適用される。得
られた材料の結合剤濃度は、紡織繊維の多い面の方がパ
ルプの多い面より高くなつている。この材料は柔軟で、
強く、非常に吸収性が高い。以上の詳細な説明は本発明
の理解を容易にするためのものである。
これにより本発明は不当に限定されるものではなく、当
業者は本発明の変更修正を容易になしうるであろう。な
お、本発明を列挙すれば次の通りである。
（１）ステープル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維１０ない
し３０％、毛羽状にした木材パルプ６０ないし８０％及
び樹脂結合剤物質５ないし２５％からなる重量が少なく
とも１オンス／平方アート（３４ｇ／Ｔｌｌつで吸収芯
をおおうために使用するのに適した吸収性表面材料であ
つて、該表面材は紡織繊維をその片側の面だけに、また
木材パルプを実質的に反対側の面だけに含有しており、
該樹脂結合剤は紡織繊維を含有する表面上に周期的な模
様状にほどこされており、結合剤の濃度は木材パルプ面
側より紡織繊維面側の方がより大きく、それにより該表
面材は柔軟で吸収性が高く、紡織繊維面は良好な摩擦耐
性を有し、木材パルプ面は使用中における吸収芯の安定
化を助けることを特徴とする上記吸収性表面材料。（２
）該ステーブル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維がレーヨン
繊維である上記第１項の吸収性表面材料。
（３）該樹脂結合剤が自己架橋性アクリル樹脂である上
記第１項の吸収性表面材料。
（４）吸収芯とこの芯の少なくとも１面に接触している
吸収性表面材料からなる吸収製品であつて、この吸収性
表面材料は重量が少なくとも１オンス／平方アート（３
４９／ｗｌ）であつて、ステープル長さのセルロース性
紡織繊維１０ないし３０％、毛羽状にした木材パルプ６
０ないし８０％及び樹脂結合剤５ないし２５％からなり
、さらにこの表面材料は紡織繊維をその片側の面だけに
、また木材パルプを実質的に反対側の面だけに含有して
おり、該表面材料は紡織繊維を含有する表面上に周期的
な模様でほどこされている樹脂結合剤を含有しており、
結合剤の濃度は木材パルプ面側より紡織繊維面側の方が
より大きく、また該表面材はその木材パルプ面が吸収芯
と接触していることを特徴とする吸収製品。
（５）吸収芯が該吸収性表面材料でつつまれている上記
第４項による生理用ナプキン。（６）該吸収性表面材料
が吸収芯の片面と接触し、水反溌性フイルムがこの吸収
芯の反対側表面と接触している上記第４項による使い捨
てオムツ。
（７）（ａ）ステープル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維の
ウエブを形成し、（ｂ）この紡織繊維ウエブの片面に粉
砕木材パルプを均一に堆積させて繊維−パルプ積層体を
形成し、（ｃ）繊維一パルプ積層体の両面をおさえつけ
、（ｄ）積層体全体をおさえつけたま＼水で湿らせ、（
ｅ）積層体の紡織長さの繊維を含有している面の方に樹
脂結合剤を周期的な模様で付着させ、（ｆ）結合剤を含
有させた積層体を乾燥して水分を除去すると共に吸収性
の高い安定化表面材料を形成することからなる、重量が
少なくとも１オンス／平方アート（３４９／ｍ”）の吸
収性不織表面材料の製造方法。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ ステープル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維１０ないし
    ３０％、毛羽状にした木材パルプ６０ないし８０％及び
    樹脂結合剤物質５ないし２５％からなる重量が少なくと
    も１オンス／平方ヤード（３４ｇ／ｍ＾２）で吸収芯を
    おおうために使用するのに適した吸収性表面材料であつ
    て、該表面材料は紡織繊維をその片側の面だけに、また
    木材パルプを実質的に反対側の面だけに含有しており、
    該樹脂結合剤は紡織繊維を含有する表面上に周期的な模
    様状にほどこされており、結合剤の濃度は木材パルプ面
    側より紡織繊維面側の方がより大きく、それにより該表
    面材料は柔軟で吸収性が高く、紡織繊維面は良好な摩擦
    耐性を有し、木材パルプ面は使用中における吸収芯の安
    定化を助けることを特徴とする吸収性表面材料。 ２ ａ ステープル長さのセルロース性紡織繊維のウェ
    ブを形成し、ｂ この紡織繊維ウェブの片面に粉砕木材
    パルプを均一に堆積させて繊維−パルプ積層体を形成し
    、ｃ 繊維−パルプ積層体の両面をおさえつけ、ｄ 積
    層体全体をおさえつけたまま水で湿らせ、ｅ 積層体の
    紡織長さの繊維を含有している面の方に水親和性樹脂結
    合剤を周期的な模様で付着させ、ｆ 結合剤を含有させ
    た積層体を乾燥して水分を除去すると共に吸収性の高い
    安定化表面材料を形成することからなる、重量が少なく
    とも１オンス／平方ヤード（３４ｇ／ｍ＾２）の吸収性
    表面材料の製造方法。
