PURPOSE:To decrease the time required for recharging a battery after when the battery is left in an overdischarged condition, by selecting the proportion of a positive plate thickness to a negative plate thickness above a specific value. CONSTITUTION:When an enclosed lead storage battery is formed, the proportion of a positive plate thickness to a negative plate thickness is selectively arranged 2.2 or more. Accordingly, generation of lead oxide and basic sulfate lead by about 0.5V voltage appearing during an overdischarge is suppressed, and internal resistance of the battery can be prevented from increasing when the battery is left in the discharged condition, in consequence, a charging current is allowed to easily flow at charging after when the battery is left in an overdischarged condition, and the recharging time can be reduced.
