Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and efficiency of a cutting operation by making a cutting section lie in a clean and dry atmosphere by a method wherein a bag-shaped heat resistant skirt is provided around the top end of a cutting torch and a gas is supplied into the skirt to thereby form a partition wall for shielding water from outside. CONSTITUTION:Compressed air is supplied into the bag-shaped space provided by the heat resistant plastic skirt 2 through the gas supply nozzle 3 so that the skirt expands to form a partition wall 5 and at the same time, the compressed air is supplied continuously inside the partition wall 5 to thereby increase the pressure inside the wall 5. As a result, a dry atmosphere is produced within the partition wall and a copper plate 4 is cut by a plasma arc cutting torch 1. In this case, a secondary waste material 6 generating during cutting is removed by being thrusted toward the rear surface of the copper plate 4 from a cutting slit 7. Therefore, it is possible to cut the copper plate 4 accurately and easily while the cutting operation is watched by an underwater lighting device provided inside the partition wall 5, to keep clean the cutting section of the copper plate before cutting, to perform a preparatory cutting operation easily and to improve the reliability of the cutting operation to thereby increase the working efficiency.

Next, when the above structure is installed: S-, the partially dry underwater cutting method of the present invention to be used is shown in the figure F)1, and the underwater fracture 1
When cutting an Ir material such as a steel plate 4 ff, gas is released from the bag of the skirt 2 (・?- from the gas supply nozzle 8).
11 Inflate the tube by supplying compressed air to form a partition wall 5 that blocks external water. At the same time, compressed air is continuously supplied to the inside of this partition 5, and 1EK of water is supplied to the outside of the partition 1j, e5. The strength of the inner side 1 of the partition wall 5 is increased so as to provide stiffness for water on the back side of the plate 4.Thus, the inside of the partition wall 5 becomes a dry atmosphere, and the steel plate 4 is exposed to plasma-γ- in the dry atmosphere.

The 41 plates 4 can be accurately and clearly cut and analyzed with a Blazuma arc cutting 1-chill while being sufficiently monitored using a water filtration lighting device, a TV camera, etc. (not shown). Of course, since a clean dry atmosphere can be maintained near the IJ cutting section of the steel plate number μIQ nil, the cutting process can be easily carried out.
