Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hot stamping foil having good foil releasability of peel ply, by stepwisely laminating a peel ply composed, in a fixed proportional rate, of resin, oxypolyethylene and fillers on a base film. CONSTITUTION:The peel ply proportioned of 10-50pts.wt. resin (for example, acrylic resin and the like), 50-90pts.wt. oxypolyethylene of 1,000-4,000 average molecular weight, and 3-20pts.wt. fillers (for example, white carbon and the like), the intermediate layer composed of binder such as, for example, cellulosic series and the like, pigment and plasticizer, etc., and the bonding layer composed of binder such as, for example, ethylene and vinylacetate copolymer and the like, tackifier, plasticizer, pigment, etc. are stepwisely laminated on a base film (for example, polyethylene terephthalate film and the like). Thus, the aimed hot stamping foil can be obtained.

In general, hot stamping foils are those in which a release layer, a release layer, an intermediate layer, a vapor deposition layer, and an adhesive layer are laminated in this order on a base film, or those that consist of a release layer, an intermediate layer, and an adhesive layer. Various types of adhesives are known, such as those consisting of a release layer and an adhesive layer, and those that also have a single layer of these layers.

For the intermediate layer, a binder such as a cellulose resin, an acrylic resin, or a rosin is used in combination with a coloring material such as a pigment or a plasticizer. This intermediate layer is a colored layer for forming a printed image.

More specifically, regarding the release layer, the cohesive force of the layer itself and the adhesive force with the base film greatly influence the release of the foil. Therefore, there are generally the following: (b) Perform melt peeling using wax. i) Peeling is performed using a resin with good peelability during heat transfer from the base film.

However, method (a) transfers at high temperature and pressure, causes dusting in the print, and has difficulty in peeling off the foil, making it unsuitable for high-speed transfer (less than 1 second). (The dust phenomenon refers to a situation in which only the edge portions of the transferred image are transferred, and the center portion is not transferred at all or only incompletely, resulting in a state where the center portion appears to be blank.

In the past, waxes were generally used as melts, emulsions, or dissolved in solvents. However, when it is melted, it has poor peelability, and when it is an emulsion, it is difficult to apply a film. Furthermore, the method of dissolving wax could only be used with a limited number of waxes.

The wax used in the present invention is dispersed in a bath additive. Therefore, it is necessary to be able to mechanically disperse it finely, and it is also required to have properties that do not weaken the adhesiveness with the intermediate layer. As a result of studying various waxes, we found that the average molecular weight was 100.
It has been found that polyethylene oxide having a molecular weight of 0 to 4000 is good.
