Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce high corrosion resistant external parts at a low cost by immersing a base material for external parts of a watch, etc. into the melt of a high corrosion resistant alloy in the mid-way of molding, and subjecting the same to >=1 times of die molding in succession. CONSTITUTION:External parts, etc. of a watch consisting of brass, steel, free cutting stainless steel, etc, having machineability and pressability as a base material are first roughly worked. The roughtly worked parts are immersed in the melt of a high corrosion resistant material such as ''Hastelloy'', ''Inconel'', or the like to disperse and stick such material on the surface of the roughly worked parts, whereafter the parts are finished to the final shape by die molding. The base material 5 and the high corrosion resistant material 6 diffuse and join to each other thereby forming a secure bond, and eliminating the peeling by the succeeding die molding. The surface of the material 5 is covered with a high corrosion resistant material 7. The amt. of the costly materials such as ''Hastelloy'' to be used is reduced to a fraction and the external parts having high resistance to corrosion are obtd. at a low cost.

Conventionally, 5US316L material has been used for exterior parts due to its corrosion resistance, workability, and cost. 5U
S51 (5L material is mainly used as body and band material, but it cannot necessarily be said that it has sufficient corrosion resistance against corrosion in the gaps between the body and back cover, the body and edges, and between the pieces of the band. In addition, when plating is applied, the surface is activated, so there is no passive film, which makes it more susceptible to corrosion than the base metal, and corrosion occurs due to the potential difference through the plating pinholes, and corrosion occurs between band pieces, etc. The gap had the disadvantage of being exposed to the worst corrosion conditions because the plating did not adhere to it.To compensate for this disadvantage, highly corrosion-resistant materials such as Hastelloy and Inconel were used. It is a well-known fact that these materials are 5 to 10 times more expensive than ordinary stainless steel, and are
The drilling of minute holes in the mechanical band piece shown in the figure, the side gun holes shown in Fig. 2, and the machining of spring true holes 1, etc., have short tool life, slow processing speed, and poor finish. It had a major drawback of extremely poor machinability.

In order to eliminate these drawbacks, the inventor of the present invention has conducted various studies and found that it is easy to process, the cost is the same as or lower than that of conventional stainless steel materials, and that it is superior to Hastelloy and Inconel in terms of corrosion resistance. It was possible to obtain an exterior part with equivalent corrosion resistance. The following will be explained based on examples. The pIS3 diagram is a cross-sectional view showing an embodiment of the present invention.

5 is a base material such as brass 9 steel with good free machining and pressability, free cutting stainless steel, etc., 6 is a high corrosion resistance galvanic II layer such as Hastelloy 0-276, Inconel 625, etc., and 7 is a base material of 1, base material 5 and high This is a diffusion layer of corrosion-resistant material B. The base material 5 is arbitrarily selected depending on cost, strength, and processing method, and after being processed into a rough shape, it is immersed in a molten metal of a highly corrosion-resistant material such as Hastelloy or Inconel, and is spread onto the surface layer, and then molded with a mold. , final shape. With this method, the base material 85 and the highly corrosion-resistant material 6 on the surface layer are firmly bonded together through diffusion bonding, so they will not peel off even during the subsequent molding process, and the base material 5 A state is obtained in which the surface is covered with the highly corrosion-resistant material 7. In terms of processing costs, it is extremely easy to process up to a rough shape, and only needs to be processed once after being coated with the highly corrosion-resistant material 6, which is difficult to process, so there is less wear and tear on the mold. Compared to the case where this method is used, processing can be performed with a few minutes of processing man-hours. As described above, according to the present invention, an inexpensive material with good workability is used as the base material,
Easy to obtain exterior parts with good corrosion resistance
