This method was manufactured by brazing, but with this method, it was impossible to precisely match the dimensions of the shell and the shape of the injection cavity during insert molding. Since the shape of the shell is partially deformed by the molding pressure, surface finishing such as abrasive grinding is performed in a subsequent process, resulting in the following drawbacks.

In order to manufacture the above-mentioned watch side, first, as shown in Fig. 2, a plastic electroforming master mold 4, which is faithfully transferred from an electroforming master whose surface has been finished with the desired design, is molded using a known plastic molding method, for example. Processed by injection molding, compression molding, etc. Next, a conductive film 5 is formed on the surface of the plastic electroforming mold 4 by vacuum evaporation or electroless plating to give conductivity, and then a platingable metal such as nickel, copper, gold, or silver is applied. Electrodeposited by electroforming method,
An electroformed shell 1 is formed. Next, the electroforming cavity 7 of the insert molding mold is manufactured.
2.A conductive film is formed on the surface by thick plating followed by peeling treatment or resin coating followed by vapor deposition.
The next master is used to electroform the electroforming cavity 7. The purpose of the thick plating or resin coating is to provide clearance between the electroformed shell 1 and the electroformed cavity 7. The amount of clearance varies depending on the shape of the watch side, but it is recommended that it be between 5μ and 1000μ, depending on the electroformed material of the electroformed cavity. In terms of cost and quality, nickel or copper is better, or it can be made of two layers. The back side of the electroforming cavity 7 peeled off from the secondary master is filled with resin or resin containing metal powder, and then incorporated into an insert molding mold to complete an insert molding mold using the electroforming cavity. Next, the electroformed shell 1 is cut, press punched, etc. to form the glass insertion part and buttonhole part, and then coated with a finishing plating layer made of precious metals such as nickel, gold, rhodium, and chromium, and then molded into an insert molding mold. The watch side is completed by injection molding. Further, post-processing of the electroformed shell 1 can be streamlined by masking the glass insertion portion and buttonhole portion with a nonconducting material during electroforming. Furthermore, if the shape of the electroformed shell causes scratches during injection molding when the electroformed shell is set in the insert mold, the electroformed cavity may be coated with a thin resin film.

In the method of the present invention, the cavity of the insert molding mold is manufactured based on the electroformed shell as described above, so there is no deformation of the shell due to the pressure during injection molding, and there is no need for finishing processing after injection molding. Since the finish plating can be done before injection molding, it becomes possible to manufacture shelled cases with a plating finish such as gold. In addition, since the external shape can be expressed freely, designs can be diversified, and watch sides with complex and high-quality patterns that are extremely difficult to mass-produce using normal machining methods can be mass-produced. Furthermore, since the surface pattern is accurately reproduced from a high-quality finished master, there is no need for finishing such as polishing cloth in the final process, which has great effects such as improved processing efficiency.
