In an exhaust gas purification device for a multi-cylinder diesel engine in which a reactor equipped with a filter member for collecting particulate components in exhaust gas is provided in the exhaust passage, an oxidation catalyst provided integrally with the filter member or downstream thereof. a first exhaust passage that guides exhaust gas from a specific cylinder to the reactor; a second exhaust passage that leads exhaust gas from the remaining cylinders to the reactor; and a second exhaust passage that branches from the first exhaust passage and connects to the oxidation catalyst downstream of the reactor. An auxiliary exhaust passage that communicates with the reactor, a bypass passage that branches from the exhaust passage upstream of the reactor and bypasses the reactor, a switching valve that switches exhaust gas from a specific cylinder to the first exhaust passage and the auxiliary exhaust passage, and a bypass passage that opens and closes the bypass passage. A bypass valve is provided near the outlet of the reactor, and when a filter member becomes clogged or at predetermined intervals, the switching valve is activated to direct the exhaust gas from a specific cylinder to the auxiliary exhaust passage, and the bypass valve is operated to direct exhaust gas from a specific cylinder to the auxiliary exhaust passage. 1.
