Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a durable casting mold which is repeatedly usable and provides a beautiful casting surface when adapted to castings of cast iron, cast steel, etc. by binding a refractory base material with an alumina cement binder. CONSTITUTION:About 1-5% alumina cement binder is compound with about 99-95wt% refractory base material such as silica sand and the mixture is kneaded. On the other hand, a pattern 2 is set on a molding board 1, and after a molding flask 3 is set, a slurry 4 prepd. by adding water to said kneaded matter is cast and filled in the molding flask. The board 1 is detached upon curing, and the patern 2 is removed, then the casting mold is inserted into a heating furnace where the mold is subjected to dehyration and removal of water of crystallization. The casting mold obtd. by such method is used for producing castings of cast iron, cast steel and other castings. The casting mold is characterized by high strength, freedom from erosion of the casting mold during charging of molte metal, obviation of casting defect such as inclusion of foreign matter, etc.

The sand mold is an IJJ type made of sand mixed with silica sand or another human figure as a base material, and an inorganic binder such as clay, sodium silicate, or an organic binder such as Fujin resin as a caking agent. Although it is applied to all types of castings, from cast iron to small castings, the disadvantage is that the Li-type collapses once it is used, so it cannot be used repeatedly.

Also, the mold is extremely strong, so it can be used repeatedly.
If a metal with a low melting point is cast in a relatively small casting with C, a dense casting is made and can be used repeatedly, but if a high temperature molten metal of the same quality as the mold is cast. , the casting surface is extremely poor and it cannot be used for general castings, and is only used in ingot cases @ VC.
