Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the position of a shift lever by detecting the ratio of rotational speed of the input and output sides of a transmission. CONSTITUTION:When a shift lever 1 is selected in any position, a signal is inputted to a gear ratio detecting device 9 by making use of an OUT side pulse gear 5, OUT side pulse pickup 7, IN side pulse gear 6 and an IN side pulse pickup 8. The range of neutral, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse gears are given in advance in a table to automatically detect which gear was selected. By this, the reliability of the device is improved, and the maintenance can be done easily.
