Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a vinyl chloride resin compsn. having excellent erasing properties and transparency and an eraser composed of the same, by blending a specified paste vinyl chloride resin with a specified plasticizer and a stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) as a plasticizer and a stabilizer (e.g. tin compd., Ba/Zn compd., Ca/Zn compd. or mixtures thereof, such as tin mercaptide) for paste vinyl chloride resin are blended with a paste vinyl chloride resin such as PHS-650A (a product of Kanegafuchi Kagaku Kogyo K.K.) to obtain the titled resin compsn. and an eraser composed of the same. Pref. 60- 200pts.wt. BBP and 0.1-5pts.wt. stabilizer are blended with 100pts.wt. paste vinyl chloride resin. When the titled compsn. is caused to gel to provide an eraser, a pressing step which is an indispensable stage for the production of conventional transparent erasers can be omitted.

Today, in the erasing field, in addition to the original function of erasing, decorativeness, hobbies, and playfulness are required.
A wide variety of erasers have been proposed. One of them is a transparent eraser. Transparent letter erasers have been prized for their uniqueness, cleanliness, clarity, and transparency, which have broken the concept of opaque erasers since ancient times.Erasers with popular Mango characters printed and enclosed inside are especially popular. The school children have accepted it.

However, there is a trade-off between increasing transparency and reducing obsoleteness, which is the original requirement for erasure. The reality is that no proposal has been made to eliminate it yet.

After various studies on the vast number of combinations of suspension or paste vinyl chloride resins, plasticizers, and stabilizers that could be obtained, the present inventors developed a specific paste vinyl chloride resin, PSH-65, OA. By combining BBP (butylbenzyl phthalate) as a plasticizer and a specific stabilizer, it was discovered that it was possible to surprisingly achieve old character annotations and transparency at the same time. .

The paste vinyl chloride resin used in the present invention is PSH-65OA (grade name) manufactured by Kanekabuchi Chemical Industry. It is not clear why this grade is the only one that gives surprisingly good results out of more than a dozen types of paste vinyl chloride resins available at home and abroad. However, in general, the factors that affect the physical properties of paste vinyl chloride resin are: ■ degree of polymerization, ■
There are four factors that can be considered: homopolymer or copolymer, (1) particle size and particle size distribution, and (2) emulsifier. Regarding the former three factors, among the many examples that have been tested so far, there is a Considering that the expected results were not obtained even though PSH, -650A was included, it is presumed that the emulsifier contained in PSH, -650A is specifically effective.

When the composition of the present invention is gelled to form an eraser, there is an advantage that the pressing step, which is an essential step in the production of conventional transparent erasers, can be omitted. That is, in the production of conventional transparent erasers, a pressing process is essential to expel air bubbles or finely crush and contain air bubbles, but in the present invention, there is no problem even if this process is omitted. There is no.
