Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the visibility of a door mirror by making polishing ranges of external and reverse end surfaces of the door mirror larger than those of end surfaces of other parts. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting film 4b is vapor-deposited on the reverse surface of the transparent glass 4a of the door mirror 4, and a top side chamfered part 16 and a reverse-side chamfered part 17 are formed at edge parts of an end surface of the mirror 4. External and lower chamfered parts 17b of the mirror are set larger than internal and upper chamfered parts 17a, and end surfaces other than the chamfered parts 16 and 17 are made into rough surfaces C. The direction (m) of the line of sight of a driver is directed to the reverse side chamfered part 17b and diffused light from an end surface of the mirror 4 never travels in the direction (m) of the line of sight; and the chamfered parts 17b is larger than any other part, so the visibility of the mirror 4 is improved.

In general, the 1st r! ! Some vehicles, such as the one shown in J, are equipped with door mirrors l for viewing the rear and sides of the vehicle. This door mirror 1 is the corner piece 2 of door D.
It can be attached to etc. Therefore, compared to fender mirrors, it is possible to bring the mirror itself closer to the passenger's viewpoint, which has the advantage that the field of view of the mirror can be expanded accordingly.

By the way, this type of door mirror 1 includes a mirror case 3 having a rectangular opening and a mirror 4 attached to the opening of this mirror case 3, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, for example. The mirror 4 is held by a holder 5 and rotatably supported by a support portion of the mirror case 3 via a spherical joint 6, and is also rotated vertically and horizontally via a pair of adjustment joints 7.8. The tilt can be adjusted. In addition, in FIGS. 1 to 3, 9 and 10 are corner piece covers attached to the outside and inside of the corner piece 2, 11 and 12 are bosses and screws for attaching the mirror case 3 to the corner piece 2, and 13 are 14 is an actuator that operates the adjustment joint 7.8, 14 is a harness connected to the actuator 13, and 15 is interposed between the mirror 4 and the holder 5 to prevent vibration of the mirror 4 and to connect the mirror 4 and the holder. It is a material that absorbs the difference in thermal expansion between 5 and 7.

In such a door mirror, the conventional mirror 4 has a reflective film 4b deposited on the back surface of the transparent glass 4a, so that even if the surface of the mirror 4 is scratched, the mirror 4 will remain intact.
This satisfies the requirement of not impairing the visibility of the vehicle.

Furthermore, in order to maintain the strength of the mirror 4, the thickness of the transparent glass 4a is set to a certain degree, while the mirror 4 is formed by cutting a large plate into a predetermined shape. , the end surface of the mirror 4 has a rough cut surface C. For this reason, a front bevel 16 and a back bevel 17 are respectively formed on the edge of the end face of the mirror 4 through a polishing process, thereby forming a cut surface C.
This prevents the mirror 4 from breaking due to the cut surface C, and also prevents injury to the worker from the cut surface C. In this case,
Since the mirror 4 is held by the holder 5, the chamfered portions 1B, 1? There is no need to make the temple that large.
.. The chamfered portions 1B and 17 are set to be extremely small (0,'l to Q, approximately 3 mm).

However, in the mirror structure of such a conventional door mirror, since the end face of the mirror 4 is a rough cut surface C, the reflected light from the reflective film 4b is diffusely reflected at the end face. Since the diffusely reflected light is directed toward the passenger's line of sight direction m, the peripheral edge of the mirror 4 may be glared, which may impair the visibility of the mirror 4.

In order to solve this problem, it is conceivable to polish the entire end face of the mirror 4, but this results in a problem that the manufacturing cost of the mirror 4 increases unnecessarily.

The present invention has been made in view of the above, and its purpose is to suppress glare at the periphery of the mirror, thereby improving the visibility of the mirror, without increasing the manufacturing cost of the mirror. An object of the present invention is to provide a mirror structure for a door mirror.

The basic structure of the present invention is a mirror structure of a door mirror in which the polishing range of the end faces located on the outside and inside of the mirror is made larger than that of other parts, taking into account the line of sight direction of the occupant.

In the first embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the basic structure of the mirror 4 in the door mirror is that a reflective film 4b is deposited on the back surface of a transparent glass 4a.
A front chamfer 1B and a back chamfer 17 are formed on the edges of the end faces, respectively.

In this embodiment, 1 front side bevel lB and back side bevel 1
7, a portion 17a located inside and above the mirror 4
As shown in FIG. 4, is set to be as small as the conventional one. On the other hand, a portion 17b of the back side bevel 17 located outside and below the mirror 4 is larger than other portions (for example, 0.5
(approximately 1 to 1). Note that the end face of the mirror 4 other than the chamfered portions 1B and 17 is a rough cut surface C.

Therefore, according to this embodiment, the direction of the passenger's line of sight m generally does not extend to the inner edge and upper edge of the mirror 4, but to the outer edge and lower edge of the mirror 4, in other words, at the reference numeral A in FIG. This will cover the range shown. At this time, since the back side bevel 17b is formed larger than other parts on the outer edge and lower edge of the mirror 4, the direction of the passenger's line of sight m is as shown in FIG. Back side chamfer of end face 1
It is almost opposite to 7b. In this state, since the back chamfer 17b is a polished surface, the reflective film 4b
Therefore, the light reflected from the end surface of the mirror 4 will not be directed toward the passenger's line of sight, and the periphery of the mirror 4 will not be glared. There is no risk of it happening.

In addition, in the manufacturing process of the mirror 4, a polishing process is required to form the chamfered portions 1B and 17 on the end face of the mirror 4, but the part 1 of the back chamfered portion 17? Since the amount of polishing in b is only greater than that in other parts, there is no risk that the polishing process will become so troublesome.

Incidentally, in the above embodiment, the mirror 4 covers the line of sight layer of one passenger.
Although the back chamfer 17b is formed to be large on the outer edge and lower edge of the back chamfer 17b, the invention is not limited to this, for example, as shown in FIG. As in the case of the prior art, the entire mirror 4 may be set as small as possible within the necessary minimum range, and the end surface of the mirror 4 itself may be made into a polished surface, at least within the range covered by the passenger's line of sight m.

As explained above, according to the mirror structure of the door mirror according to the present invention, the polishing range of one end face of the mirror is increased within the range covered by the passenger's line of sight, so that the diffused reflection of light on the one end face of the mirror is reduced. This makes it possible to suppress glare at the periphery of the mirror, thereby improving the visibility of the mirror.

Further, according to the present invention, the process of polishing one end face of the mirror is not so troublesome, so that the manufacturing cost of the mirror itself does not increase unnecessarily.
