Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the operation of a flap even when abrasion occurs on a rotary pin for fitting the flap by a construction wherein the flap provided at the tail end of a main rudder is driven by a mechanism comprising a pair of links and operating with the rotation of the main rudder. CONSTITUTION:Assuming that a main rudder 1 and a flap 2 are positioned initially on a stem-stern plane X-X passing the center line of a rudder shaft 3 and that the rudder shaft 3 is rotated by an angle alpha at steering, a rotary pin 11 of the flap 2 is positioned on a vertical plane X1-X1 which passes the center line O-O of the rudder shaft 3 and forms an angle alpha with respect to the stem-stern line X-X. Simultaneously, the teeth of a pinion 8 roll in mesh with the teeth 7 of a guide member 5, and thereby the pinion 8 is rotated from a position indicated by a solid line to a position shown by a dotted chain line, so that the flap 2 is rotated by the same amount as the pinion around the rotary pin 11. In this way, the trembling of the flap 2 due to the abrasion of the rotary pin 11 can be absorbed by a link mechanism 4 which is provided between the pinion 8 and the flap 2.

The inventor of the present application previously developed a rudder equipped with a flap having a drive mechanism that has an extremely simple structure and can be manufactured at low cost, and published the rudder in Japanese Patent Application No. 57-46208. This rudder's flag drive mechanism is a fixed fixed gear with a partial spur gear near the tail end of the main rudder that is held at a higher level than the upper end of the main rudder by being attached to a support hanging from the hull adjacent to the rudder shaft. It is composed of a guide member and a sector fixed to the upper end of the flag and provided with teeth that mesh with the guide member, and has a minimum number of components, and furthermore, each component is extremely simple and compact. It is clear that the construction represents a significant improvement over previous rudders of this type in terms of reduced manufacturing and maintenance costs.

However, in the case of the rudder published above, since the movable pin attached to the tail end of the flap main rudder will inevitably wear out due to long-term use, the rudder @IIK concentric fixed guide There is a risk of backlash occurring in the meshing area between the partial spur gear on the member and the tooth of the sector attached to the flap. In addition, large M' pins require a pair of intermediate pinions between the fixed guide member and the sector on the flap, and the structure tends to be somewhat complicated. The present invention seeks to solve and improve upon the problems of this type occurring in the females disclosed in the above-mentioned application.

As shown in Figure 2, the main rudder 1 and flaps 2 are initially placed on the bow and stern plane XX passing through the center line of the rudder pillar 3, and the rudder shaft 3 is rotated by an angle α during steering. Then, the rotation pin 11 of flap 2 is aligned with the center line O of lie@3.
Vertical plane X + X1 passing through O and making an angle α to the bow and stern line Xx
placed in At the same time, the teeth of the pinion 8 match the teeth 7 of the guide member 5 and roll, and the pinion 8 not only rotates from the solid line position to the point ml line, but also rotates the flap 2 around the rotation pin 11 by the same amount. make it move. In the illustrated example, while the main rudder 1 is rotating about 30 degrees, the flap 2 is rotated through the rotation bin IIA,
It is rotated approximately 60 degrees around 11B. In this case, the angle formed by the flap 2 and the main rudder l is β.

As described above, according to the present invention, the engagement between the pinion 8 and the teeth 7 of the spur gear of the guide member 5 is limited to the main rudder 1 itself and the rudder shaft 3.
It remains unchanged without causing any deformation, and flap 2 is the main rudder
Even if the rotary pin 11, which is connected to Vc, wears out, backlash will not occur in the above-mentioned meshing. The above rotating bin 11
Movement of the flap 2 due to wear can be absorbed by the link mechanism 4 provided between the pinion 8 and the flap 2. In addition, a relatively small pinion 8 can be used regardless of the size of the rudder, and the link mechanism has an extremely simple structure, which together reduce the manufacturing cost of the rudder.
