Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a split type roll of a continuous casting machine which is shortened in the part where a billet is not supported by splining and connecting the split rolls on the same axial line by means of an intermediate roll having the same outside diameter as the outside diameter of said rolls. CONSTITUTION:A split type roll is formed of the 1st and 2nd roll members 1, 3, and the opposed ends of both rolls 1 and 3 are splined 4. An intermediate roll 2 interposed between both rolls 1 and 3 is fitted by said splines. The outside diameters of the rolls 1, 2, 3 are made equal. Bearings 5 are fitted to the opposed ends of the rolls 1, 3 between said rolls and the roll 2 and the bearings 5 are housed in a central housing 7. The part of the billet supporting surface where the billet is not supported is shortened by such split type roll and the deflection of the billet is effectively prevented.
