Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a fixing device where the supply of a release agent to a roll is made uniform to attain a stable fixing capacity for a long time, by providing a release agent supply member, where the release agent transpired by a heat source is included, around at least one of a heat roll and a pressure roll. CONSTITUTION:A cover 9 is provided around a heat roll 1 to cover its circumferential face, and a release agent supply member 10 is attached to the inside of the cover 9. The release agent is included in the release agent supply member 10 and is transpired by the heating action of a heat source 2. Since the release agent supply member 10 is heated by the heat source 2, a heat-resisting felt or the like superior in heat-resisting property is desirable as materials of this member 10. As the result of experiments, a dimethyl silicone oil is most suitable as the release agent. But, a silicone oil containing a vinyl radical, a phenyl radical, or the like may be used. The release agent included in the release agent supply member 10 is transpired by the heating action of the heat source 2 and is stuck to the circumferential face of the heat roll 1 by its transpiring action. Thus, a toner image 8 on a copy form 5 is prevented from being transferred to the circumferential face of the heat roll 1.

・Generally, in copying machines etc., 0.1 to 50 μm thick thermoplastic resin mixed with carbon blank etc. as a coloring agent is used.
Toners having an outer diameter of about 100 mL are widely used. This toner is a fine particle that has electrodetection properties, and after being developed on a photoreceptor, it is transferred and fixed to copy paper.
This is the material that forms toner images.

As a fixing device for fixing toner on copy paper, there is a heat fixing type in which the paper is sandwiched and pressed between a pair of rolls and then heated to fuse the toner onto the copy paper. Compared to other types of fixing devices, it consumes less power and has excellent paper running performance in the fixing section, so it is widely used because it has advantages such as no paper jams.

However, with the heat fixing method described above, a so-called offset phenomenon occurs in which one copy of copy paper is transferred onto a roll, and the residual toner on this roll is transferred and fixed onto the next copy paper. There is a drawback.

A heat-resistant felt (6) is attached to the circumferential surface of the heating roll (1) in contact with the mail tank (7).
The silicone oil is applied to the circumferential surface of the heating roll (1) by using capillary action to penetrate the silicone oil up to the heat-resistant felt (16). The releasing action of the silicone oil prevents the 1-Lee image (8) on the copy paper (5) from being transferred to the heating roll +1.1.

However, in such a device, the oil tank (
7), heat-resistant felt (6), or a member that allows silicone oil to penetrate, making the device complicated and large. In addition, because the silicone oil is configured to penetrate the heat-resistant felt (6) by capillary action and apply it to the circumferential surface of the heating roll (1), it is difficult to apply a certain amount of silicone oil to the heating roll (1). If the amount of coating is too large, there is a risk of staining the paper, and if the amount is too small, there is a problem that the heating roll ( ) will wear out due to friction with the roller ( ).

In addition, since the mold release agent is attached to the circumferential surface of the heating roll (1) by transpiration, the amount of application can be kept constant, and there is a risk that too much mold release agent will stain the surface of the heating roll (1). There is no. Furthermore, since the structure is not such that the heat-resistant sheet and elt are brought into direct contact with the circular surface of the heating roll (1) as in the past, there is a risk of mechanical damage to the heating roll (11) if the amount of coating is too small. No way.

As is clear from the above table, the mold release life of the 4% l:J-leum depends on the viscosity of the mold release agent, and the lower the viscosity, the longer the mold life. It was found that the viscosity was 10C3 and the lifespan was 150,000 sheets.
