Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress contamination by water during electrolyte impregnation so as to improve the preservation performance of a plate for a nonaqeuous battery which s influenced by water content by impregnating the plate with nonaqueous electrolyte contained in a case the opening of which is sealed with a sealing member principally consisting of a water-absorbing agent. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte 2 prepared by dissolving 1mol/l of lithium perchlorate in a mixture solvent consisting of equal volumes of porpylene carbonate and 1,2-dimethoxyethane, is contained in a cup-like stainless-steel case 1. The water content of the electrolyte 2 is adjusted to around 10-20ppm beforehand by means of a water-removing device. A sealing member 3 is made by packing into an annular stainless-steel frame 4 kneaded mixture 5 prepared by kneading zeolite working as a water-absorbing agent with polyvinyl alcohol, then drying the packed mixture 5. Positive plates 6 containing manganese dioxide as an active material are impregnated with the electrolyte 2 by putting such a liquid imprgnation case as above in a dry box with a water content of around 200ppm and immersing the positive plates 6 in the electrolyte 2.

[Detailed description of the invention] (a) Industrial application field The present invention uses light metals such as lithium and sodium as negative electrode active materials, metal oxides, sulfides, halides, etc. as positive electrode active materials, and propylene as an electrolyte.・Regarding nonaqueous batteries that use inorganic solutes such as lithium perchlorate, lithium chloride, and lithium sulfide dissolved in organic solvents such as carbonate, γ-butyrolactone, and tetrahydrofuran alone or in combination, particularly This invention relates to an improvement in a method of impregnating an electrode plate with a liquid.

B) Structure of the Invention The present invention has been made to achieve the above object, and includes immersing an electrode plate in a non-aqueous electrolyte stored in a cup-shaped container, and filling the opening of the container with a moisture absorbent. The present invention proposes a method for impregnating an electrode plate for non-aqueous foaming with a liquid, which is characterized in that the electrode plate is impregnated with a non-aqueous electrolyte while being sealed with a sealing member.

The figure shows a cross-sectional view of a container for liquid impregnation used in the method of the present invention. (1) is a lip-shaped container made of stainless steel, inside which 1° of propylene carbonate is stored. It is. Incidentally, this electrolytic solution has been previously subjected to moisture removal using a moisture removal device (not shown) so that its moisture content becomes 10 to 20 ppm.

This is because in the method of the present invention, the opening of the container for liquid impregnation is closed with a sealing member mainly made of a moisture absorbent, which prevents trace amounts of moisture in the dry box from entering the container during the electrolyte impregnation process. This is also thought to be because a trace amount of water in the electrolyte is absorbed by the water absorbent.

Therefore, if the method of the present invention is applied to incorporate a positive electrode plate into a battery, battery performance, especially storage performance which is affected by the amount of water, can be improved.
