記入枠を所定の位置に設定可能な入力面を有し該入力面
への手書き入力座標を示す第１の電気信号を発生する入
力手段と、前記第１の電気信号に応答して入力文字パタ
ーンデータを発生しこれと所定の文字群の各文字の標準
パターンデータとの間でパターンマツチングを行ない前
記入力文字パターンデータに最も類似した前記標準パタ
ーンデータをもつ前記文字を示す文字コードデータを発
生する文字認識手段と、前記文字コードデータを蓄積記
憶するための不揮発性の記憶手段と、外部から与えられ
る前記文字コードデータの書込みおよび読出しのいずれ
か一方を指示する第２の電気信号に応答して前記第２の
電気信号が前記書込みを指示しているときには前記文字
コードデータを前記記憶手段へ送って書込み記憶させ且
つ前記第２の電気信号が前記読出しを指示しているとき
には前記記憶手段が記憶している前記文字コードデータ
を読出し送出させる記憶制御手段とを備えたことを特徴
