Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a product of high quality both at a low price and with no flagging or protrusion without causing the necessity for incidental facilities, by providing a surface pressure supplementary layer to a required place on the surface of a gasket by the method of electrostatic printing. CONSTITUTION:A gasket main unit 1 is equipped with a water hole 4, oil hole 5, cylinder hole 6, grommet 7, etc. Here surface pressure supplementary layers 3, 3 are provided by the method of electrostatic printing to a surface pressure insufficient part on upper and bottom surfaces 2, 2 in the gasket main unit 1. Then a powdery material of, for instance, epoxy, acrylate resin and other synthetic resin or the like not containing at all an organic solvent or the like is used as a constitutional agent of the surface pressure supplementary layers 3, 3. In this way, a product of high quality both at a low price and with no flagging or protrusion can be obtained without causing the necessity for any incidental equipment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method for forming a blood pressure supplement layer on the surface (joint surface) of a gasket for improving the sealing performance of the gasket for internal combustion engine assembly.

Spraying or printing methods are generally used as conventional layering methods, but since the material constituting the surface pressure supplementary layer is a liquid, these methods require general procedures such as installing a local exhaust system in the workplace. It is subject to legal restrictions, therefore requires a huge amount of capital for capital investment, and is not necessarily compatible with a high-mix, low-volume production system, which is a factor in high product costs.

Furthermore, since the material to be layered is a liquid, even if it is deposited on the gasket surface to the required thickness, it will sag due to flow phenomena, and as a result, it will not be possible to obtain a replenishment layer with the specified width and thickness. Depending on the method, it may not be possible to obtain the expected effect on the sealing performance of the gasket, and protrusion may occur depending on the method, and in any case, the layering method itself requires appropriate technology. It was developed with the aim of providing a product that is suitable for small-scale production, does not require any equipment, and is inexpensive.
