。Technical Background and Problems In general, label printers must perform label feeding in order to set the printing position on the label, issue and stop the printed label, but it is necessary to start and stop the feeding operation Q. The standard is set by optically detecting the label. An example is now shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.

Now, when the label (2) is removed by hand after printing is completed, the label detector (10) generates a signal indicating that there is no label. That is, light hits the photoreceiver (9) and emits a signal, which is shaped and compared with a reference voltage in the converter (17), resulting in a signal without a label. As a result, the pulse motor U can be
υ is driven and moves the mount (1). As a result, the primary label (2) is peeled off and the leading edge of the label (2) is detected by the label detector Ql). This detection generates a label presence signal, and from this moment on, when constant feeding is performed, the printer (4) starts, prints characters at a predetermined position, advances further, stops feeding completely, and removes the label (2). Make it possible to roll a 9.

Therefore, the label detector (10) only needs to operate when the label detector (10) detects the leading edge of the label (2). However, in the conventional device, the light emitter (8) is always energized even during standby, 9 consuming unnecessary power.

In addition, when there is a timing when detecting the presence or absence of a label is unnecessary, such as during manual issuance, by stopping the operation of the pulse generation circuit during that time, the power consumption can be further reduced by -N. It is configured so that it can be performed.

Components that are the same as those described in FIGS. 1 and 2 are designated by the same reference numerals, and explanations thereof will be omitted. In this embodiment, the pulse motor l11) is driven by a pulse PD with a period T1.
This is done by Therefore, since the mount (1) is fed every time the pulse PD is fired, the cycle T1 is the time required to feed the label (2) by the minimum feed amount.

! This is to keep the print position within the range of "it", so that the printing position can be accurately determined, and the feeding stop can also be accurately determined.

Now, when label issuance is not performed using a signal without a label as described above, but when the label is issued by operating the issuance switch, the label detector (10) is used only when the front of the label (2) is detected. It is enough to operate. Therefore, by pressing the issue switch, a start signal is given to the pulse generation circuit (14) and the operation is started. Then, the pulse motor Ql) is operated and the label is fed. When the leading edge of the label (2) is detected by the label detector 00), the feeding of the pulse motor Ql) is controlled from that moment and a stop signal is given to the pulse generating circuit I to stop it. Therefore, during the next 1τ when the emission switch is pressed, the light emitter (9)
energized, resulting in significant power savings.

This makes it possible to reduce the power consumption of the light emitter while maintaining accurate label feeding accuracy.
Further, when label detection is not required, further power saving can be achieved by stopping the operation of the pulse generation circuit.
