Abstract

PURPOSE:The titled composition useful as a water repellent, etc., having improved stability, obtained by emulsifying or solubilizing a silicone oil in the presence of protein, protein decomposition product, surface active agent, etc. in a polyhydroxy compound or its aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:<=90wt%, preferably 30-70wt% based on total emulsion or solution of silicone oil (e.g., straight-chain methylsilicone oil, etc.) is emulsified or solubilized with stirring in the presence of >=0.05, especially <=5wt% based on total amount with solution of protein (e.g., sodium caseinate, etc.), protein decomposition product (decomposition product by protease, etc.) and/or a surface active agent in >=30wt% based on total amount with protein, etc. of a polyhydroxy compound (e.g., propylene glycol, etc.) or its aqueous solution. The silicone oil is preferably blended with a solution of the polyhydroy compound kept at temperature to make it liquid. The composition is easily emulsified or dispersed into water only by adding it to water with stirring.
