Abstract

PURPOSE:To fit a piezoelectric element uniformly and enhance workability, by a method wherein a piezoelectric element is placed on an outside wall corresponding to a pressure chamber, with a thermosetting adhesive sheet placed between the wall and the element, and the element is fitted to a main body of a recording head by heating under pressure. CONSTITUTION:The main body 12 of the recording head is provided with a nozzle, the pressure chamber, an ink chamber, a conduit and the like on a metallic plate or a ceramic plate. The piezoelectric element 14 is placed on the outside wall of the main body 12 at a position corresponding to the pressure chamber, with the thermosetting adhesive sheet 13 placed between the wall and the element 14, and the element 14 is adhered to the main body 12 by heating under pressure. When the piezoelectric element is adhered to the main body of the recording head by using the thermosetting adhesive sheet, the amount of the adhesive is determined by the thickness of the sheet and is constant. Accordingly, the thickness of the adhesive after adhering is also substantially constant, and adhesion can be achieved with little irregularity. In addition, since the adhesive is not liquid, workability is extremely high.

Inkjet printers have conventionally been used as one of the output devices of electronic computing devices. As shown in Fig. 1, this inkjet printer moves a recording head 3 having a plurality of nozzles from a position a minute distance (approximately 1) away from a recording paper 2 passing over a platen 1 from the left and right at the appropriate time. This is a serial printer that prints characters, symbols, etc. by ejecting ink from selected nozzles. 2 shows a side view of this recording head, FIG. 3 shows a view taken along the arrow 2 in FIG. 2, and FIG. 4 shows a sectional view taken along the line IV--IV in FIG. 2. A simple explanation of the figure is 4.4'
5.5' is the nozzle, 5.5' is the pressure chamber, 6.6' is the conduit path leading from the pressure chamber to the nozzle trap, 7 is the ink chamber, and 8.8' is the ink supply path leading from the ink chamber to the pressure chamber. A ceramic plate 9 is processed by etching or the like. 10.10' is a plate made of metal, ceramic, glass, etc. attached to both sides of this plate 9, and 11.11' is attached to the outer wall of the pressure chamber 5.5' in order to apply pressure to the ink in the pressure chamber. It is a piezoelectric element. Since a recording head formed in this manner consists of several hundred dots to form one character, it is necessary to eject ink with great precision.

However, conventionally, piezoelectric elements are attached using liquid adhesive, which causes variations in the thickness of the adhesive, resulting in uneven ink jetting from each nozzle, which causes deterioration in print quality. It was becoming. Furthermore, the use of a liquid adhesive also has the disadvantage of poor workability. The object of the present invention is to eliminate these drawbacks and provide a method for manufacturing piezoelectric elements with uniform adhesion and good workability.

Therefore, in the present invention, a metal plate, a ceramic plate, or the like is used to provide a nozzle for ejecting ink, a pressure chamber for applying pressure to the ink, a conduction path for guiding ink from the pressure chamber to the nozzle, and a nozzle for ejecting ink from the pressure chamber. In a method for manufacturing an inkjet recording head, the method includes steps of forming a recording head body equipped with an ink chamber and a supply path for supplying ink, and then attaching a piezoelectric element to an outer wall of the skeleton body corresponding to a pressure chamber. The mounting process is characterized by placing the piezoelectric element on the outer wall corresponding to each pressure chamber with a thermosetting adhesive sheet sandwiched therebetween, and applying heat and pressure to the piezoelectric element to adhere it to the recording head body. .

Examples are shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. FIG. 5 shows the state before bonding the piezoelectric element, and the method of the present invention is applied to the outer wall of the recording head main body 12, which corresponds to the pressure chamber, in which nozzles, pressure chambers, ink chambers, conduction paths, etc. are formed on a metal plate or a ceramic plate. thermosetting adhesive sheet) 13 (for example, structural adhesive A manufactured by 3M Company in the United States)
The piezoelectric element 14 is placed between the two sheets (F-46), and the piezoelectric element is heated under pressure (120° C. for 2 hours in the case of the AP-46) and adhered to the recording head body 12 as shown in FIG. 6. It is.

As explained above, the method for manufacturing an inkjet recording head according to the present invention uses a thermosetting adhesive sheet to adhere the piezoelectric element to the recording head body, thereby making it possible to achieve uniform adhesion, and to prevent the ink from each nozzle during printing. The book prevents variations in particle ejection speed, contributing to improved print quality.
