The functions of automobile armrests are (1) to be used as a handle when opening and closing a door, (2) to allow occupants to rest their elbows, and (3) to prevent the armrest from becoming a dangerous protrusion even if a person hits it during a vehicle collision. (4) The surface is required to have a good feel.

On the other hand, conventional armrests are made by inserting a frame made of steel plate to serve as the bone inside a skin molded by rotational molding using vinyl chloride sol, and then injecting urethane foam liquid by casting. There are also those made by blow molding using relatively hard thermoplastic synthetic resin materials such as polypropylene and polyethylene.

However, the former type of armrest has the drawback of requiring a large number of manufacturing processes, which increases the cost, while the latter type of armrest can be manufactured in a single process, making it cheaper, but the material is hard. Therefore, it has the disadvantage that the feel is extremely poor.

This idea was developed by focusing on the above-mentioned problems, and involves forming a hollow core by blow molding using a relatively hard thermoplastic synthetic resin material such as polypropylene, and by injection molding using a soft material. A covering body is formed separately from the core body by a molding method, etc., and this covering body and the above-mentioned core body have an engaging portion consisting of an engaging groove and an engaging protrusion that can be engaged with each other, and the mounting surface side of the core body. By providing an engaging portion with a cross-section and a blade-like shape, and by engaging these engaging portions and assembling the covering body to the upper part of the core body, that is, the elbow rest, manufacturing is simple and inexpensive, and the armrest can be easily and easily manufactured. The purpose is to provide an armrest with an excellent feel.

As shown in FIG. 3, bolt insertion holes 2 for fixing the armrest to the door inner panel are formed in each of the mounting portions 1a, and on the upper part of the core body 1, there are holes on the indoor side of the mounting portion 1a, An engagement groove 3 is formed along the indoor side of the handle part 1b and the door inner panel side of the handle part 1b, and a blade-shaped cross section is formed in the upper part of the mounting surface side of the mounting part 1a as shown in FIG. An engaging portion 4 is formed.

Reference numeral 5 denotes a covering body attached to the upper part of the core body 1, and this covering body 5 is formed by injection molding method or cast molding method using a soft foaming material such as foamed chlorinated beer.
This covering 5 has a shape corresponding to the shape of the upper part of the core 1, and has a hanging edge 5a formed along its outer periphery. An engagement protrusion 6 that can be engaged with the engagement groove 3 and a mounting portion 1a of the core body 1

Then, by engaging the engaging protrusion 6 and the engaging part 7 of the covering body 5 with the engaging groove 3 and the engaging part 4 of the core body 1, the covering body 5 is attached to the core body as shown in FIG. 1 to form the elbow rest of the armrest.

By attaching the armrest configured in this manner to the mounting portion of the vehicle body, the saw-toothed engagement portion 4 of the core body 1 and the sawtooth-like engagement portion T of the covering body 5 are engaged. In this state, the end portion 5b of the covering body 5 is placed between the mounting portion 1a of the core body 1 and the mounting portion of the vehicle body.
, 5b are clamped, and the covering body 5 cannot be separated from the core body 1 because it is engaged with the saw-toothed engaging portion.

According to the armrest configured as described above, the core body 1
Because it has a suitable hardness, it does not deform when the door is opened or closed, and when a human body hits it during a vehicle collision, it deforms and absorbs the impact energy, so it does not become a dangerous protrusion.
Furthermore, since the covering body 5 on the upper part of the core body 1 has appropriate softness, the feeling when the occupant rests his/her elbow is extremely good.

As explained above, in this invention, the upper elbow rest of a hollow core body made of a hard thermoplastic synthetic resin material is covered with a covering body made of a soft material, and the core body and the covering body are An engaging portion consisting of an engaging groove and an engaging protrusion that can be locked to each other, and an engaging portion having a cross-section of a blade shape are formed on the mounting surface side of the core body, and these locking portions are engaged. Since the covering body is joined to the core body by using the armrest, the core body and the covering body, which are each molded separately in one process, are joined with one touch, and after the armrest is attached to the vehicle body, the covering body is attached to the core body. Since the structure can be configured such that the armrest cannot be separated, it is possible to provide an excellent armrest that has the functions 1 to 4 of the armrest described above with a few steps at a low cost, and it is also lightweight because it can be made entirely of synthetic resin. It is possible to aim for

In addition, the core body is formed in a common color for each car model at a low cost.
Moreover, by preparing the cover in various colors to match the room color, it is possible to provide an armrest with even higher commercial value.
