Claims

[Scope of Claim for Utility Model Registration] 1. A retaining material made of foamed ceramic having a predetermined wall thickness is wound around the outer peripheral surface of a catalyst having a flat part with a large radius of curvature and a curved part with a small radius of curvature, and the catalyst is housed in a casing. In the catalytic converter, the holding material covering the flat portion is thick and the curved portion is thin. 2. The holding material is made up of two thin sheets long enough to cover the catalyst body except for the curved part, and the flat parts of the catalyst body are overlapped so that the flat part of the catalyst body is doubled.
